I love Nic Cage, Michael Caine, Nicole Kidman and Olivia Colman.

Kate Beckinsale is great in Love & Friendship though I agree, no Katharine Hepburn.

Kate Winslet on the other hand - so overrated. She has such an earnest, head girl in the school play vibe - a bit like Emma Watson. She is very pretty (Winslet) though. Same as Judi Dench.

Jason Statham and The Rock aren't supposed to be actors - they're charismatic action stars. The speech Jason Statham gives in Spy cracks me up.

Bingobanging · 14/12/2024 17:39

James Nesbitt.

MuchuseasaChocolateTeapot · 14/12/2024 17:39

Melanie Griffith was awful and yet made some very watchable movies.

Minihero · 14/12/2024 17:40

Jeff Goldblume

chollysawcutt · 14/12/2024 17:40

I agree about Liam Neeson, much as it pains me because I think he ought to be better. I never understand what kind of accent he is meant to be pulling off - Irish via USA? I dunno.

LawrenceSMarlowforPresident · 14/12/2024 17:40

I know I am a minority of one for this choice: Tom Hanks. I absolutely can't stand him. Utterly talentless. I can't fathom why he is adored by so many.

MissBattleaxe · 14/12/2024 17:40

Another vote for Emma Watson. So stage school and wooden. No range at all. She was beyond lucky to get the role of Hermione

The Rock has charisma and can sing.

Jason has no redeeming qualities.

mbosnz · 14/12/2024 17:41

Tom Cruise for me, just - nope.

Doggymummar · 14/12/2024 17:41

Watched red one last night, the Rock was great

biscuitsandbooks · 14/12/2024 17:42

Keira Knightley
Bonnie Wright
Daniel Radcliffe

Oldjustold · 14/12/2024 17:42

Emma Watson
Daniel Radcliffe

Zero acting talent

foreverbasil · 14/12/2024 17:43

The cast of Virgin River...but there's also a problem with the script and plot

BellissimoGecko · 14/12/2024 17:43

I like The Rock!

Nicolas Cage
Harrison Ford
Daniel Radcliffe

LizzieBennetsSister · 14/12/2024 17:43

Michael Caine.

Anyone in a soap

Actually there have been some fantastic soap actors and actresses. "Raquel" from Coronation Street for example.

LaPalmaLlama · 14/12/2024 17:43

I think the issue with Olivia Coleman is that she's just a bit overused at the moment- it's as though no other middle aged female actors exist. She is reasonably versatile I'd say other than she always plays middle aged women but that's not really surprising as she is one :-) I really liked her in the Lost Daughter and Broadchurch and the one about the poison pen letters- was slightly odd that her co-star in that played her young self in the Lost Daughter though.

Thatcastlethere · 14/12/2024 17:46

This is a just a matter of personal taste tho isn't it? "Acting" can mean different things to different people. Like some people think Gary Oldman is the best actor who ever lived and some people think it's ott scenery chewing nonsense.
They've all got their own styles.. and also directors have their own styles.. and sometimes you get actors who aren't trained but have a certain vibe that works really well in certain films but fails abysmally in others.
But end of the day it's all subjective.
For example people like to hate on Kirsten Stewart dont they? But I actually really like her, despite hating Twilight.. I'd see something she was in..
Whereas Siorise Ronan I absolutely cannot stand even tho I know people say she's a wonderful actress, but there's just something about her.. if I see she's in something I'll think twice about watching it even if it's something I might like.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 14/12/2024 17:46

Daniel Radcliffe/Emma Watson, awful, worthy, preachy one tricks.

Paapa Esiedu just so wooden and in everything.

Mark Wahlberg nope.

Gwyneth Paltrow nepo & completely rubbish actor. Dubious Oscar award.

Eddie Redmayne oh fecking please.

All other nepo or Oxbridge actors.

Ellie56 · 14/12/2024 17:47

KnopkaPixie · 14/12/2024 17:32

Judi Dench. She is just Judi Dench in everything. Sorry. I like Tracey Ullman as Judi Dench. Tracey Ullman as Judi Dench is much better than Judi Dench as Judi Dench.

Grin Grin

Enko · 14/12/2024 17:47

Kiera knightly

She is just always Kiera Knightly never who she is meant to act to be.

LaPalmaLlama · 14/12/2024 17:48

I would say Keira Knightly, but actually she was really good in The Hole- maybe I'm just not over "I look quite pretty?" in Love Actually

Mark *Wahlberg was good in Basketball Diaries and Fear. Both 90s films.

Agreed. Sarah Lancashire aka Raquel is excellent.

PiastriThePastry · 14/12/2024 17:51

Bloody Hugh Grant.
