High Grant, also a revelation! in Florence Foster Jenkins - when he assures Florence (Meryl Streep) ‘we ARE a family’ how can an actors voice be filled with such kindness.

Hugh Grant was brilliant in that enjoyable film.

He's become an amazing actor with age. In the Gentlemen he was fantastic.

Oh I really like him! He's just so adorable.

He's a really great actor, very talented, everything I've seen him in, I've liked.

olivia coleman

Olivia Coleman is ... OK, but she isn't great. To my mind she was really lucky to win that Oscar.

However, because of all the experience she is getting and working with such amazing directors and fellow actors she is probably getting better and may well end up becoming a truly great actor.

He was in the RSC long before Doctor Who and he's perfect in Good Omens

He’s hammier than my massive Christmas gammon.

agree also on many others including Emma Watson, Gerard Butler and Colin Firth.

Really like Olivia Colman except for her accent in Broadchurch which was unforgivable.

He's become an amazing actor with age. In the Gentlemen he was fantastic.

Agree. I'm loving him now in his villian era.

Mine is Emma Watson. I just don't get it at all.

Flyylf · 14/12/2024 17:36

Eddie redmayne…no matter what character they’re all the same and he just pouts

I find him to be a very subtle, quite clever actor. I think he's wonderful.

HagathaChristi · 14/12/2024 23:51

Minihero · 14/12/2024 17:40

Jeff Goldblume

He's really bad, probably the worst of all the bad actors already mentioned.

Dontknowwhattodowithmyselfnow · 14/12/2024 23:55

The Rock? Fuck right off!Moana?!

Zonder · 14/12/2024 23:56

Cattenberg · 14/12/2024 23:03

Yep, that sickly-sweet, patronising, manipulative, horrible woman. Not an easy part to pull off, I would have thought.

Except that's the part she plays all the time. Her one talent is to play that same character.

janeavrilavril · 14/12/2024 23:57

Angelina jolie
George Clooney
Kristen Stewart
Keira Knightley
Kevin Costner (because he ruined Robin Hood, redeemed himself in Yellowstone)

Orangebadger · 14/12/2024 23:58

Rattatoille · 14/12/2024 22:58

Alan Rickman, same boring monotone voice in everything, playing himself.
Nicola Walker, over exposed and looks weary and bored.

Alan Rickman!!! Are you kidding me???To me he has been one of the greatest English actors. I bloody love him!!

CydonianKnight · 14/12/2024 23:59

Rattatoille · 14/12/2024 23:13

Yes, and he's boring and ugleee ! He's even uglier than Martin Clunes.

Imagine a world where the only people who appear in the media are perfect specimens of humanity. Who gets to decide what that looks like? To whom do you award the honour of choosing?
What would that do to children and young people’s mental health? Only ever seeing face and body perfection?
So what if you don’t find actors attractive? What does it matter?

janeavrilavril · 14/12/2024 23:59

Jennifer Aniston also is terrible, but I think some actors have one such successful role that they can never be looked at anyway again as a completely new personality type.

HagathaChristi · 15/12/2024 00:00

Hopper123 · 14/12/2024 21:56

Absolutely second this he's terrible (that sneeze in the lake house has me in stitches everytime) and yet I absolutely love him and his movies I wonder if its because in real life he is just so darn lovely just forgive the bad acting. For instance Tom Cruise is technically a good actor but I can't stand watching him and I think it's because he's not particularly pleasant in reality.

I don't find Shane West to be a very good actor either but the teenage girl in me will never not enjoy watching a walk to remember 😂 he was so bad in Salem.

I feel that Keanu has invented a whole new acting technique* and, by the terms of this new technique, he is absolutely brilliant.

*A woodenness that is so philosophically profound that it reveals the truth of the human condition.

HagathaChristi · 15/12/2024 00:02

Madonna seems to have given up on acting. Quite rightly so as she was terrible.

HagathaChristi · 15/12/2024 00:03

suburburban · 14/12/2024 22:20

Dennis waterman was a bit meh

But kind of good at what he did.

Yes! I love this 😆

I was going to say Keira Knightly too. Also an old film star from years ago-Robert Mitchum- known in our family as Cardboard Mitchum.

Couldn't disagree more. For me, Mitchum was the de Niro of his era.

EdithBond · 15/12/2024 00:04

FeralNun · 14/12/2024 17:59

Absolutely. She’s everywhere. As Jim Royle said ‘like shit in a field!’

See also David Tennant. Only I think he is much less talented than Olivia.

Can’t agree with Tennant. He’s fabulous in Rivals

duc748 · 15/12/2024 00:05

I don't disagree about Keira Knightly, though.

Parratha · 14/12/2024 17:38

Adeel Akhtar. I didn't know his name but just googled him as I saw him in Black Doves recently. Every time he comes on the screen I'm " oh no...not him"

https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2017/may/20/bafta-winner-adeel-akhtar-interview

He is absolutely hilarious in Four Lions

nomdegrrr1 · 15/12/2024 00:06

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 14/12/2024 22:15

He’s so lovely in real life though. Met him once and he was so down to earth

I remember seeing Woody Harrelson playing in the Unicef football match. He'd never played soccer and had been playing with kids in the park in the week before, didn't know what he was doing and still wanted to turn out for the cause. He came on late in the match, did his best, but wasn't exactly shining. Then it went to a penalty shoot out and the American who had never played before managed to score the winning penalty. It was wonderful.

HagathaChristi · 15/12/2024 00:07

Sarah Lancashire annoys the hell out of me. It's probably irrational, but I always feel as though she is aware of her status as a revered and privileged actor and that's what she plays. I can't stand it.

Maddy70 · 15/12/2024 00:07

Cameron Diaz is utterly dreadful

Mjmum10 · 15/12/2024 00:16

Emma Watson
Channing Tatum
Blake lively
All of these were okay in one role and got lucky, to me the rest of their work is very lackluster and made me realise they're not great at what they do.

Tom Hanks 🤢iykyk. But I did think that before I was aware of any rumours. Very overrated and I just don't like him. Sat through a few of his movies years ago and found him so boring and I just don't get it how he has been so successful
