David Tennant. If he hadn’t been in Doctor Who, he would be on the tills in Lidl by now.

He only has two expressions and his voice is monotonous; recently he seems to have gone a bit mad, so he has added staring eyes to the repertoire.

He was ok in Rivals

Doublevodka · 14/12/2024 20:04

Michelle Keegan. I’m baffled how she gets so much work on TV. She’s very pretty but I can’t bear to watch her acting and have to turn over when I see her.

I was scrolling this thread waiting to see if anyone else thought this!! She was DREADFUL. Literally one facial expression like you say. There was that scene right towards the end with the Mi6 boss lady and the actress playing her (the boss lady) did more with one eyebrow than Lashana Lynch did in the entire series. I’ve never watched such an expensive well put together show that had such a glaringly AWFUL performance.

I thought her and Eddie Redmayne were completely awful and unconvincing.

Canonlythinkofthisone · 14/12/2024 20:06

Nicholas Cage

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 14/12/2024 20:07

MrsPeregrine · 14/12/2024 19:57

Daniel Ratcliffe and Emma Watson.

Came on to say this.

Along with Olivia Coleman and Suranne Jones. Nicola Walker is close to joining the gang too.

Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson

Absolutely agree! They're both dreadful.

suburburban · 14/12/2024 20:08

Danny Dyer

Yes

Or with a bad wig in Rivals

I agree. Clooney is a much better businessman than actor.

He was savvy enough to realise that he wouldn't be 'housewife's choice' forever. He left ER at the peak of his hunk era, which shocked many at the time but was actually a very smart move. Then he became a 'movie star' when the concept still existed, despite not being a very good actor. Now he's an extremely rich businessman and philanthropist, even though nobody can remember the last time they've seen him on screen.

Very well played indeed.

I still think that he's at the very least bisexual though. Which is fine but perhaps explains why I never fancied him, despite all the 'hunk' hype.

I'm very discerning.

SantaToSSD · 14/12/2024 20:09

One from a while ago: Clive Owen.

AllstarFacilier · 14/12/2024 20:09

Sheridan Smith. I don’t think it helps that everything I’ve seen her in is also coupled with terrible writing. There are times when she seems to be in every drama going. There was one where she played a teacher that kids were meant to fancy and it was crap.

NippyCrab · 14/12/2024 20:11

Julia Roberts
Kiera Knightly
Vicky McClure

Funkyslippers · 14/12/2024 20:12

Daniella Westbrook was utterly terrible in EastEnders

Friendofdennis · 14/12/2024 20:12

Keira Knightley was good in Atonement

SemperIdem · 14/12/2024 20:13

Blake Lively. I actually do like some of her films, but she is objectively speaking, not a very good or varied actor.

AllstarFacilier · 14/12/2024 20:13

Also, Martin Freeman seems to play the same person in everything I watch.

Christmasandallthetrimmings · 14/12/2024 20:14

Jennifer Lopez...I feel like they make her look at photos of fluffy white puppies being manhandled every time she has a crying scene- you almost hear the word 'sniff' coming out of her nose.

Sorry @FlabbergastedByTheGorgons I can't stand any of them. Olivia is just all bustly mumsy huffy and Sarah is all salt of the earth plain speaking damaged one and David just is David. Saw him live and we almost left at the interval

Blimey, who do you think is good?

KTheGrey · 14/12/2024 20:15

feellikeanalien · 14/12/2024 18:50

I always used to get Kiera Knightley and Natalie Portman mixed up.

Me too, but Portman can act and has a nice speaking voice, so you know the difference when the dialogue starts.

Ellmau · 14/12/2024 20:15

Oh, and David Hasselhoff.

TempestTost · 14/12/2024 20:16

BibbityBobbityToo · 14/12/2024 17:35

Mel Gibson - worst Scottish accent ever.

Michael Caine (can't watch anything with him in it, when I was a kid and had the 'stranger danger' talk at school I kept picturing him so I'm maybe biased about that one).

Pierce Brossnan (sp?) especially mincing about singing ABBA tunes.

Iam not sure I agree about Mel. I am willing to consider a bad accent separately from an actors other talents. Some people who are pretty good aren't great at accents, and in particular I would say that coaching for accents has not always been what it is now. Especially in the US. To do it well IMO usually requires some training and not uncommonly a coach for a new accent.

Ha! Brilliant post

Dweetfidilove · 14/12/2024 20:17

Agree with Adam Sandler, Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe.

I love Martin Freeman though. Loved Fargo

Waltzers · 14/12/2024 20:17

Todd Carty always made me want to turn the tv off. He seemed to get worse the more he did, so wooden.

SailingOnAWave · 14/12/2024 20:17

Gweneth Strong (Cassandra in Only Fools and Horses). Very wooden for a comedy show.

TempestTost · 14/12/2024 20:18

Falseshamrok · 14/12/2024 17:38

Gerald butler is incredible in phantom of the opera

I can't decide if this is meant to be ironic or sarcastic or something?

It was almost unwatchable. He can't sing.
