Criticism about being healthy and diaciplined

Hi everyone, does anyone else feel really, really triggered when critisised for living a disciplined and healthy lifestyle? I hate the snarky comments people make like, “well, we’re going to die one day anyway so what’s the point of working out?” Or “That’s so boring eating healthy, you need to eat more than that…”

I’m a healthy woman, don’t have a disordered eating pattern, I just value myself enough to be healthy.

it drives me crazy and feels really demoralizing. Has anyone else dealt with this in their lives and if so, please could you offer some advice?

Sure:) Lunch: greek salad with garlic bread, cherry pudding (ok, 2 puddings). Dinner : either dahl lentils version spicy with bread or pasta and peas with various sauce and feta cheese. Desert: chocolate, dark with almonds, just love it and can not be without it😁

I think a nutritionist would suggest you lack variety, which in turn will mean you are short on certain minerals and vitamins.

i get it, but this is also quite an extreme approach

I do take ferritine since I'm low in iron. Everything else is fine though. My GP said that a nice steak would solve the problem.😡

Thanks everyone, I do feel so much better having read your responses. I think I need be level headed and figure out the root cause of my triggers, I’ll have a think. Sorry if I’ve come off as judgemental, I do try my best not to be towards other people as best I can. Appreciate everyone’s input.

I agree with this - ‘I live a healthy lifestyle and no one understands’ can actually hide ARFID, exercise obsession and OCD, all of which tend to co-exist. That OP was unable to relax her diet/exercise programme and simply maintain her weight, means there is something underlying the need for control and I’d encourage therapy to get to the bottom of this.

I think this is a bit over the top. It's sugar addiction causing most people's bad eating habits and some of us are more sensitive to sugar than others. This means that our blood sugar spikes more and sugar is more of a drug to us.

Therefore, we have an all or nothing approach because once we've started eating sugar/refined carbs, we can't stop. No amount of therapy is going to change this. It takes huge amounts of willpower to not binge on chocolate when it's available everywhere for not very much money.
