My foot hurts

My foot hurts. This isn’t chronic pain. It’s not a scary warning about something I need checking out. It’s not that I need special shoes. My foot just hurts. It happens sometimes as you get older. Before this it was my hip. Before that it was my finger (bizarrely, yes, I know).

Anyone else got any irritating minor pain that is definitely not a serious illness and just part of getting older that nevertheless they’d like to empathise about? (And no, I know about the menopause thanks)

Yep that too.

Can I add bladder issues? There are days I can't hold my wee 😳 and also waking up in the night to go - so annoying. Then I have a spate where I sleep all night and when I do go, am astonished at how much my bladder has held!

Makes no sense

Ah yes I too have this mystery bladder thing. I spend actual full weeks getting up every 45 mins to 2 hourly for a pee, then one day I sleep like I'm dead all night, wake up and my bladder has held seemingly litres, when for weeks 10ml has been enough to keep me wide awake and warrant a loo visit.

I get weird twinges in my hands that can come on in an instant without me apparently doing anything to trigger them. And then, the painful knee that comes on if I’ve sat the wrong way and makes me hobble, thinking I’ll never walk again normally, and then an hour later is completely back to normal. Or the times when I stand up and I’m only able to describe the sensation as my feet don’t feel like they are on properly.

I have plantar fasciitis, it is utterly grim and never better!

My right shoulder has also been hurting for about a month, joy.

It's a dreadful condition, made slightly better for me by insoles and special socks.I've been genuinely shocked at how debilitating a condition it is.I watched myself on the house cameras one day and was shocked at how I was hobbling along.I simply can't walk on bare feet any more and have to have Crocs by the bed side.

What particularly irritates me is that this year my plan was to get fit and yet I’ve been bugged by minor pains and aches all the time. Oh well … [gets out 2025 new year resolutions] … [writes ‘this is the year I get fit’]

I keep getting a pain in my ear, I looked it up, it's the concha cavum. Sharp stabbing pain that comes on.
Then it doesn't happen for a couple of weeks.

Same here! Some nights I have to get up 4 or 5 times before I can sleep despite not having had anything to drink for a good 3 hours before bed. Then other nights I don't have this issue at all even though I've done nothing different Confused

Still here for any Saturday evening aches and pains!

I haven’t walked much today and my foot is fine. My hip started twingeing when I was doing yoga tho.

I had this until recently and was convinced that it was a beginning of the great decline of old age. However, I sent to see an osteopath about something totally different and she just fixed all the problems on the spot. You could have knocked me down with a feather, honestly. Everything just works again now.

RedRiverShore5 · 14/12/2024 21:51

I get a twinge in my thigh if I have been sitting and I go to get up and I have to ease myself into it and then it goes and it's ok, DH says it's my age. I also sometimes get a thing called Achenbachs syndrome when I get a spontaneous painful bruise on my finger which suddenly goes hot which takes a few days to clear

Hmmm my two outside fingers on my left hand ache miserably. My left knee is loose again and a strange sciatic uncomfortableness, it's not pain, it's not aching, it's barely there. And I'm trying to get used to heels again so I'm schlepping around in the damn heels and my toes hurt.sigh

ClementineChurchill · 14/12/2024 22:48

If you don’t mind me asking, why are you trying to get used to heels again? (I gave up years ago … can’t be arsed).

A wedding where I must look a trillion dollars. 😀

The funny thing is for me the knee pain comes and goes better in hot sunny weather.
