Christmas Album recommendations

I’m sure we’ve all got a Michael Ball or Buble Christmas album, but what other Christmas albums are good to listen to?

My contribution is Jamie Callum’s ‘ Piano Man at Christmas’. Some gorgeous original songs, and it’s become my default ‘wrapping Christmas present up’ music. (And you don’t have to be a jazz lover to enjoy it).

The Unthanks have just released a very beautiful album called In Winter.

I also listen to a lot of Kate Rusby's albums - a combination of traditional carols, some original songs and some more modern songs. Her version of "Santa Never Brings Me A Banjo" is wonderful!

Just started working through the suggestions. I’d forgotten what a lovely voice John Denver has. Lovely album.

I used to play A Christmas Gift For You from Phil Spector - not sure if he’s now been cancelled or not though

Barenaked Ladies - Barenaked for the Holidays

Has an amazing song featuring Bublé about elves complaining about their working conditions 😄

Some songs are beautiful, some are silly, some relatable. They also have Hanukkah songs on it.

Highly recommend.

Oh also the Very Special Christmas series has a lot of good songs. Some original some covers.

I love Oi To The World by No Doubt the most. SUCH A BANGER.

Oh I love Kate Rusby but I prefer her ordinary not Christmas albums

Obv he turned out to be a trash human (putting it mildly) but I'll always play that album at Christmas time.

Oh yes, we always play creepy old Phil Spector at Christmas.

it's only 6 tracks but Sabrina Carpenters EP Fruitcake is great and really well balanced considering the length - 4 original songs, 1 Christmas version of her hit Nonsense, 1 cover, some really fun upbeat ones and slower more melancholy.

Kylies Christmas album is also cracking.

Her voice suits so well for holiday songs, lovely album!

Not the second christmas album, though - when christmas comes around, that was so disappointing album ☹️

I have a massive long playlist on Spotify that I've put together over lots of years which includes a wide range of music, so that's my go to, but some great suggestions on here. I am particularly loving the ultra lounge Christmas cocktails recommendation from @Summersongroses.

My faves are the aforementioned Annie Lennox Christmas Cornucopia, Josh Groban's Noel (the deluxe version because it has O Holy Night and his version is the best best of that song), Bing Crosby's album (don't remember what it's called), and Diana Krall's Christmas Songs.

I also love Boney M's Christmas, because who doesn't love disco versions of Christmas carols?

HOW could I forget the bonus Christmas CD that came with Girls Aloud’s Chemistry album?! Aka “Christmastry”

Not Tonight Santa, I Wanna Kiss You So, Christmas Round At Ours and Count The Days are the highlights.

More generally wintery than Christmassy, but also Fleet Foxes’ debut album and Kate Bush, 50 Words for Snow.

Ooh I recommend Almost a Full Moon by Hawksley Workman. All original songs except for Silent Night. I was gonna mention my favourite songs but I can't narrow it down 😂 Maybe 3 Generations? Or First Snow of the Year. Or Learn How to Knit. Nope, can't choose 🤷🏻‍♀️
