Apparently putting a Greggs in the "poshest" town in the coutry is akin to 'putting a sex shop in a senior school'! FFS........

'Like a sex shop in a school': How Britain's poshest town feels about Greggs

Among old cottages, a Tudor watchtower, a cheese shop, and two boarding schools, Greggs has arrived in the upmarket market town of Bruton, Somerset. Locals have mixed opinions

She’s not had one of their ham and cheese baguettes.

They have PERFECTED the ham to cheese ratio.

It’s practically wizardry.

Is it toasted?

PyongyangKipperbang · 10/12/2024 19:00

Their chicken and bacon baguettes are really nice too!

There's me thinking it was wallace

RosieLeaf · 10/12/2024 19:02

So are their tuna crunch baguettes. One of the very few places not to contaminate tuna with evil cucumber.

This woman is living in the dark. She’ll be enlightened soon by a steak bake.

BrightYellowStar · 10/12/2024 19:04

Who wants the smell of sausage rolls wafting through the air when it could be the aroma of artisanal quinoa bread? Greggs might be poshing up!

Doggymummar · 10/12/2024 19:04

We live in a posh commuter town and someone posted as a joke on the local page that an Ann Summers was opening on the High Street and a church had been bought by Wetherspoons. The outrage was hilarious.

Hoppinggreen · 10/12/2024 19:09

I agree , its like a pimple on a beautiful face.

RubyRedBow · 10/12/2024 19:09

If some people had their own way their villages or towns would be ghost towns.

AdventFridgeOfShame · 10/12/2024 19:10

The kids at King's and Sexy's will love Greggs far more than a sex shop.
Some of the newer inhabitants will really not like it.

SoNiceToComeHomeTo · 10/12/2024 19:22

A sex shop in a secondary school might be very popular...

Me! But I come from Glasgow where sausage rolls are one of your five a day.

Printedword · 10/12/2024 19:25

We live in a posh town - we have 3 Gales Bakery, 5 if you include their Waitrose presence. We also have 2 Greggs. One of the Greggs is next door to the Waitrose and in the same street as one of the Gales. I’m just glad we have lots of shops open. Why are some people such snobs

KezzaMucklowe · 10/12/2024 19:26

I bet she's a MNer.

Toopulululu · 10/12/2024 19:27

I clutched my pearls dramatically at this. WILL NO ONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN.

AnyoneSomeone · 10/12/2024 19:28

One bite of a caramel donut and she will be converted.

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 10/12/2024 19:29

I used to live there before it was posh. There were two pubs then. We got kicked out of one but used to go to regular lock ins at the other.

It’s proper posh there now.

FancyNewt · 10/12/2024 19:30

So that's where Gregg Wallace got his name inspiration.

willproblem · 10/12/2024 19:31

There's a town near me that has both Waitrose & Morrisons , FFS !!

NotSorry · 10/12/2024 19:33

We've got Waitrose, Poundland and Iceland! There was a lot of pearl-clutching in the town when the latter two were added. 😂
