Parents are bringing the wreath in daily?

I went to visit parents and they’ve been wringing their light up wreath in daily from the front of the house. It cost them £60 and they think someone might steal it from the most rural and quiet area ever. Aibu for telling them it’s stupid.

My ex’s wreath used to get stolen every year from what would be seen as a posh area. It was a fresh one from the florist.. He gave up putting it outside in the end.

Someone once stole the Christmas lights off the trees in our front garden when I was a child, they cut the wire to do so so the lights would have been completely useless to them!

So I can definitely see someone pinching a nice wreath

Fairly easy to refit a new plug if they only cut that section.

My parents take theirs off door if its stormy like today. Noticed down my road, earlier on that someone's wreath has blown off their door

My first house, years back. my lovely wreath was nicked after a few days.
Terraced street in the NW, it reappeared on someone else’s door.
I was pissed off, so I put out another, with a rape alarm. The sort where you pull a pin and it goes off and can’t be stopped.
So it got stolen, and it was worth it to watch the teenaged arse panicking as he ran down the street, too confused to let go of my wreath, as all the neighbours looked out to see what the racket was.
Got my wreath back, plugged it back in and the noise stopped.

Nice one. Just put mine on the door but though it’s a beautiful and unusual wreath, it was £4.99 about 15 years ago from Lidl so if it goes, I’ve had my use.

Wreaths and other front garden ornaments have been stolen round our nice neighbourhood. I wouldn't put something that cost that much out for this reason.

Do you judge everything they do?

They’re her parents, of course she does.

An 'admin task' 🙄

I'm sure they're perfectly happy to spend 2 minutes doing this, otherwise they wouldn't.

You know mumsnetters can create an admin task out of anything 😅

Not to mention the ‘mental load’ of having to remember this ‘admin task!’

I wonder if it is classed as 'wife work' ?
