Husband picks his nose and eats it

My husband works away and a few months ago on FaceTime, he was ‘discreetly’ picking his nose and it looked like he was eating it. I called him out and he kinda just laughed. Honestly, I was horrified. Then on other calls, he tried to hide his lower face but he didn’t put the camera low enough down and he whipped the bogey from nose to mouth so I know he is doing it. I feel like, why would you choose to do that right now? On our call? He’s done it a few times now and I just call him out every time. He doesn’t really say much when I call him out- just gets a bit embarrassed. We’ve been together over 20 years but I see him differently now. Maybe it’s small to some people but this has completely disgusted me. The thought of kissing him repulses me. I wouldn’t say I’m head over heels in love with him or anything but I quite like his company for the most part and we have a pretty good sex life but this has changed things. I’m so grossed out. Am I being unreasonable? Is it over?

Nah that's vile I couldn't go near him.

I can cope with our bodies betraying us with things but a purposeful pick and insert? I’m struggling.

I agree. Like earwax, we work to remove snot from our bodies, not to re-insert it.

He's given you the ick 🤢

And I’m struggling to get over it. How do I get over it? It’s so gross.

Do the secret bogey guzzlers also consume their own earwax? Which bodily secretion is a step too far?

That’s enough internet for me for tonight.

I generally do not agree with shaming people, but I think I'd continue to loudly point it out if you ever see it again. He seems to have kept it hidden from you but after so many years is slipping.

I'd try to embarrass him into breaking the habit for good.

Loveagoodbooger · 03/12/2024 22:08

I love picking my nose and eating it. The chewy ones with a bit of wet are the best!

Plus I pick my earwax and sometimes eat it.

Also love picking my skin and eating that!

Apparently, these are OCD traits, possibly ADHD too...

PantherchameleonsocksforChristmas · 03/12/2024 22:08

Intentionally eating it is one thing but we all swallow our snot from time to time, whether we like it or not!

Greentreesandbushes · 03/12/2024 22:09

So do I

Tanfastic · 03/12/2024 22:10

This is one thing that really makes me feel physically sick and turns my stomach if I see someone doing it. I could not live with a bogey eater.

Eating your bogeys has been proven to improve your health / help programme your immune system - that's why it tastes pleasant. It's why kids eat term without thinking, until they're told not to.

Ear wax is horrid & has no proven immune response.

Though if you're grossed out by it, then you'll probably remain so...

The Independant thinks it’s great for all sorts of allergies and infections, and we should be encouraging our growing children to pick their noses and eat it!

The human body is a mysterious place, and disgust is such a strong universal emotion!

Apart from it doesn't because there is a MASSIVE disclaimer at the start of the article: Update: This story, reported by numerous news outlets, has been the subject of an article by Lead Stories, which found it to be inaccurate. The study referred (and linked) to in paragraph 3 does not make any explicit mention of eating snot, let alone recommend the consumption of bogies picked from the nose in order to defend against respiratory infection, stomach ulcers or HIV, among other health benefits. The quote from Professor Bischinger pre-dates the study by a decade and appears not to relate to any specific research. We are glad to update the matter.

So those who pick their nose and don’t eat it (very salty taste, fyi) what do you do with the results?

Do you know, I read it at the time and remember reading they had trouble getting people to sign up to a full study on eating bogies! Surprisingly!

TheChosenTwo · 03/12/2024 22:23

Strangely I always pick my nose in the shower 😂
I don’t eat my findings though, I think of them as balls of germs your body has no use for, like a waste product similar to your crap and pee! This is not scientific clearly!!

I do this when in the car (only at night time when it is dark obviously!)

We have ALL done it but of course nobody will ever admit to it.

No mate, we don't. Jesus.

Josie901 · 03/12/2024 22:26

I have no recollection of ever eating it, even as a child. I can't remember not being repulsed by it. So bogey eaters, speak for yourselves.

This would absolutely kill my sex life OP. I couldn't kiss him on the lips. YANBU.
