RELATE is going into administration

AIBU to be worried about this? I think I'm not. Over the last years we've become used to charities taking on services that one might have been expected would be provided by the state (foodbanks, hospices for example). It's worrying when the charities begin to fail

Does anyone go for marriage guidance anymore?
People just split up don't they?

Brieandcamembert · 04/12/2024 21:53

They caused the breakdown of my marriage instead of fixing it. We found a way back together in the end but I still feel literal panic seeing the relate building.

Could never really see the point of it. Tend to think that once a relationship is over, it’s over 🤷‍♀️

I think it's to work out if the relationship should be over or if it could get better and flourish. And also could make the difference between staying together happily or staying together with resentment and poor communication

Good I went with my ex when I was being financially abused and she asked why I thought I was entitled to his money. He was a knobhead and so was she

Charities are acting as a backstop to the state, picking up the pieces when the state can't/won't. What happens if the charities are no longer there?

It's not immediately obvious to me why relationship counselling should be the state's responsibility.

That’s very short sighted.

It's not a surprise as charitable services everywhere are losing funding. There have and will be lots more go sadly.

I don't think this is true.

My OH and I brought our relationship back from the brink. There were outside pressures, we had very different love languages and both learnt each others.. it made a big difference.

Neither of us had done anything 'bad' so to speak (no affairs, gambling, alcohol issues).. We had two small children and wanted to make it work.

I think in some situations a bit of guidance can fix a failing relationship.

Some people are very keen to look at any avenue that might be helpful before making that decision.
