Not to the midwives or anything like that!

Just random people in the street, aquintances ect ...

Im coming upto 7 weeks but my belly is huge, Im bigger than my lat pregnancies anyways about a size 14/16 compared to a 10 and 12 with the others but its ALL belly. Its swollen up, its rock hard... I look about 5/6 months gone.

And people ASK me daily if a am pregnant and I feel stupid saying 'yes, 6 weeks' Its quite embarresing

So would it be awful to say something less specific like 'were not sure yet about 3 months?'

Tell them no you aren't and have a laugh at their embarrassed faces

I wouldn't lie. A friend is PG and looks about to pop when she is only 5m. She gets asked all the time and is fed up of it too.

Also have you mentioned it to the MW - perhaps it is twins in there

callmeovercautious · 29/04/2008 11:54

x posts - that is one big 7 week bump

Lovely dress BTW (excuse me I am Wedding mad atm).

LoveMyGirls · 29/04/2008 11:54

I can see why you would want to lie BUT in the end what does it matter really? Lies aren't worth it and who cares what people think?

HappyNewYearFeet06 · 29/04/2008 11:55

If people are asking you if you are pregnant but are only 6 weeks then it is a difficult time.

I am sure you want everyone to know but would say that 6 weeks is a little soon. However, it still leaves you having to answer the question.

Hmmm, if people ask then just say yes. Youdon;t needthem to know howfar gone you are. Just say that yes you are expecting but do not want to disclose dates at the moment.

At least people will know but not know the dates until you are ready to tell them.

Don't worry about size either. We are all different and our bodies change at different times when we are preggers. All of my 3 were different and I looked more pregnant at 4 mths with my third than I did at 9 mths with my first.

I know but I feel like a fraud, I know that sounds daft but I feel like im way further than I am and 6 weeks is nothing is it really?

Bloody hell that is huge!!

I would just tell people how many weeks you are and ignore their reaction - when I was 5 months pregnant with DS I was huge - probably bigger than you and on our holiday we met this lovely Italian couple - she was 2 weeks further gone than me and had a bump akin to what my tummy looks like after I have had a big dinner - god I hated her!!

yurt1 · 29/04/2008 11:56

I was like that with ds3. (Wasn't twins). Had people asking me from 7 weeks as well. I just said 'yes but only just' and left them muttering about twins.

Disenchanted · 29/04/2008 11:57

But I can't say Im not pregnant happyfeet, look at my profile its very obvious.

I wasn't like this a few weeks ago so people notice the difference.

I felt the same when I was pg - I had a huge bump all the way through (because of fibroids).. People would ask and I'd be very and blather on about fibroids etc. whilst their eyes glazed over

Tell them its twins (or would that be tempting fate ? )

Disenchanted · 29/04/2008 11:58

Theres no twins on my side, only DHs and apparantly that doesn't count!

I like the 'only just' comment.

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 12:05

That is rubbish. My friend had twins 2 weeks ago and there are only twins on her DPs side.

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 12:06

You are bloody huge though!! Wait until we are all 9 months!

itsahardknocklife · 29/04/2008 12:06

I thought that twins ran down the father's side and skipped a generation, so if his father or father's siblings were twins, then you might have twins.

bosch · 29/04/2008 12:09

My sister had twins and her MIL was adamant that it was because twins were on her side. Twins were identical btw

TillyScoutsmum · 29/04/2008 12:12

Only non identical twins are hereditary (on the mum's side)... Identical twins are not...

bigfatbump · 29/04/2008 12:14

If I understand right, it's only non-identical twins that can be hereditary. But identical twins can happen to anyone - two friends with no history on either side both had id twins, apparently the twins society said it can happen to anyone

Nosnik · 29/04/2008 12:15

I got that, 12 weeks pregnant walking down street with greggs best cheese and onion, when a bloke stopped me and said you should watch your weight love!!!!!!! I said "you can talk fatty, I'm 20 weeks pregnant!! ha ha

Disenchanted · 29/04/2008 12:18

The twins are on DHs mothers side.

So my husbands mothers sister had non-identical twins (boy & girl)

What does that mean? lol

Does that mean it could be twins for me??

I was watching 'multiple mums' this morning and it said that the girl on it, same age as me had lots of strtching pains at 6 weeks and went to the EPU and there was twins on the scan.

Im having loadssss of stretching pains

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 12:19

How bloody rude!!!! Nosnik. Someone said something similar to me when I was about 18 weeks and I said "I'm pregnant, what's your excuse?" DH pissed himself and this bloke was most sorry.

CarGirl · 29/04/2008 12:21

Twins (non id) actually seem to pass down through the father's line which I always found most odd tbh

CarGirl · 29/04/2008 12:22

Go and get some multiple birth insurance quick whilst you still can?????? That is def a bump!

BettySpaghetti · 29/04/2008 12:22

I would say "Yes, I'm due in (insert month here)" and watch them as they mentally try to calculate how far gone you are and then look all confused as they think they've got it wrong.

snorkle · 29/04/2008 12:27

rather than say you're 6 weeks, could you say it's due in October? Most people won't actually do the sums and just assume you're about 3 months gone.
