Hotpoint delivery at 6:55am

It’s pitch black out, I’m convinced my neighbours are going to hate me as my my Hotpoint cooker is arriving at 6:55am. I didn’t choose this time when ordering. They’ll be a great big loud noisy truck. The shame

It’s a weekday and a one-off. Don’t sweat it too much.

Hazeby · 29/11/2024 06:19

I think this is one if the few times it would be acceptable to wear your pyjamas in front of strangers.

It's just cos it's dark that you think that's too early. It's not too early.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 29/11/2024 06:21

Keep the house in darkness until they chap the door then neighbours will assume you had no idea it was coming at this time!

Yep, a weekday. Most people will be up getting ready for work and school runs. Those who aren’t will be used to the fact that their schedules aren’t the norm and, while it’s may be slightly annoying for them, it’s a one off so I don’t think anyone will hate you for it.

Which is a weekday.

It's 7 in the morning on a weekday, isn't that a normal time to be up and dressed?

I don't know your neighbours OP but I less they are all night shift workers who've just got off to sleep is it really an issue?

eRobin · 29/11/2024 06:24

I’m so sleep deprived and thought you said the weekend

Hell I would love a delivery at that time. No waiting around from 8 - 8 sounds great to me.

BoneTiredandWired · 29/11/2024 06:25

We have a massive Coop lorry every morning from around 6 outside ours... it's fine 🤷‍♀️

CanelliniBeans · 29/11/2024 06:25

Most likely f my neighbours leave for work between 6 and 7 so this would not really disturb anyone.

Completelyjo · 29/11/2024 06:25

Aren’t most people up by 7 anyway for work and school? It’s hardly the middle of the night.

Zanatdy · 29/11/2024 06:26

I’d imagine deliveries are from 7am. Someone has to be first.

It’s Friday

Still a week day last time I checked

RedRiverShore5 · 29/11/2024 06:30

I would be pleased so I could get on with my day

Mumofyellows · 29/11/2024 06:33

It's a weekday so pretty sure most people would already be up and about! This really wouldn't bother me, I wouldn't bat an eyelid!

And if they drop it, the neighbours can start their day with a bang

BearOnABlanket · 29/11/2024 06:36

Oh it's fine.

I once had some flooring delivered at 5:30am - the driver had texted me the night before to ask starting with 'this is cheeky, but...' and I said it was fine (I had a toddler and a baby, I was going to be awake anyway), and the driver had a long day of deliveries having driven down from up north so I was happy to give him a head start.

Didn't get a peep from the neighbours (who, to be fair, included a few tradies who started off early too anyway)

amoreoamicizia · 29/11/2024 06:43

That's interesting, I wouldn't say all my neighbours are up at 6:30, probably more like 7. If I went outside my house now, most of the lights would be off. It's a mix of working parents and retired people but I guess it's a small town and people don't tend to commute.

BilboBlaggin · 29/11/2024 06:48

I used to have neighbours who booked a very early weekend slot for their grocery delivery and the delivery folk used to be banging the crates for ages. No effort to do things quietly. Now THAT was annoying. A one-off delivery on a weekday at almost 7am would not be a problem for most.

GrazeConcern · 29/11/2024 06:48

It’s a one off and not a big deal, I wouldn’t think anymore about it.

I agree, depends on where you live. I now live on a main road and the commute traffic has been roaring past for ages now.

Our bins are emptied at around that time then lots of early risers take them in and empty bins can be very noisy!

speakout · 29/11/2024 07:00

At least you don't have to wait in all day though.

My new washing machine was delivered last week, the whole process was quiet, including taking the old machine away. A family member was asleep and the delivery didn't waken them.
