Hotpoint delivery at 6:55am

It’s pitch black out, I’m convinced my neighbours are going to hate me as my my Hotpoint cooker is arriving at 6:55am. I didn’t choose this time when ordering. They’ll be a great big loud noisy truck. The shame

There is a green grocer near me that gets a huge delivery of potatoes every morning at about this time. Huge lorry, lots of noise, fork lift truck moving the pallets from the street. Then the bin lorry comes to empty the street bins. Your one off delivery would mean nothing here!

Namechangefordaughterevasion · 29/11/2024 07:12

It's fine. Once in a while can't be helped. And it won't be that noisy. They won't be blowing whistles and banging gongs. The most intrusive thing would be any reversing alarms and they don't go,on for ever.

Bunnycat101 · 29/11/2024 07:12

6.55 is actually a great time. No worrying about missing it if you’re on the school run etc. most people will be up during the week unless you know you’ve got a shift worker next door working nights. Don’t overthink it.

I’m so sleep deprived and thought you said the weekend

What time do you usually get up? It’s 7am not 2am, the delivery will be fine.

It's 7 in the morning on a weekday, isn't that a normal time to be up and dressed?

I don't know your neighbours OP but I less they are all night shift workers who've just got off to sleep is it really an issue?

Lots of people are up, but definitely not dressed, at 7am!

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 29/11/2024 07:21

It's fine! Enjoy your lovely new cooker : )

bluebee17 · 29/11/2024 07:23

Anything after 6am is good to go in my book.

soupfiend · 29/11/2024 07:26

7 isnt particularly early, the plumber arrived at 7 the other day for some work

MyDeftDuck · 29/11/2024 07:27

Whenever we are expecting an early delivery or having workmen in that might create some noise I always pre-warn the closest neighbours. One is a single man who starts work early anyway, the other is an elderly couple who are also early risers. The rest of the neighbours don't come into the equation to be honest - we used to pre-warn them all but none every reciprocated so now we just think 'bugger them'.

Miyagi99 · 29/11/2024 07:28

It’s not early! I’ve had a Sainsbury’s delivery at 6am.

Mnetcurious · 29/11/2024 07:29

It’s basically 7am, most people will be up already or getting up soon after. It’s hardly the middle of the night, and I highly doubt the van/lorry will be that noisy - Yabu.

I would be pleased so I could get on with my day

Same here. I am up at 6am every day so it wouldn't bother me.

ApolloandDaphne · 29/11/2024 07:31

I'm not up and around on any day by 6.55. I am retired though! A delivery at that time wouldn't bother me. Someone needs to have the early slot.

Fundays12 · 29/11/2024 07:32

Our neighbour had a large item delivered around 7 am the other day (week day). I can't say it bothered me. It's a school and work day I am up anyway like most people.

Stretchedresources · 29/11/2024 07:32

It's fine. Enjoy your new cooker!

Fannyfiggs · 29/11/2024 07:33

It might be early for a full brass band to parade up and down your street playing Killing in the Name Of, but a cooker delivery, not so much 😁

FuckThePoPo · 29/11/2024 07:34

I'd be awake maybe not quite up - I'd have a nosey and be like 'oooh new cooker nice' 😂

AgentJohnson · 29/11/2024 07:36

A 6:55 am delivery sounds perfect, preferable than having one at midday and having to take time off work.

Snorlaxo · 29/11/2024 07:37

i think 6:55 tomorrow would be way worse. Lots of people are up by 7. Unless the lorry blocks the road, it will probably be fine

WhoDatNow · 29/11/2024 07:38

Isn't that great - you'll not have to wait in all day wondering when they will come.

Matronic6 · 29/11/2024 07:41

I wouldn't think twice about a neighbour getting something delivered at that time on a weekday. It's actually the ideal delivery time as you don't have to wait around all day and it will be on time.

RamblasTapas · 29/11/2024 07:44

I had a delivery yesterday, my slot was 7am -7pm. I would have been happy with a 6:55 am slot rather than waiting around!

Clearinguptheclutter · 29/11/2024 07:47

I think it’s great if you’re first on the list
on a weekday this is a non issue

Mymanyellow · 29/11/2024 07:49

Least you haven’t got to wait in all day. Lovely new cooker, what’s for dinner tonight?

needsomewarmsunshine · 29/11/2024 07:51

6.55am on a friday? No big deal, the neighbours probably won't notice least of all care about a lorry. Most would probably be up and getting on with their day.
Why would you care anyway?
