Apologies if there is already a thread on this?

See attached screenshots

Looks like people have really been waiting on his downfall 🤭🤭

(Obviously, I know it's a serious matter for those who've been victimised by the guy, not being dismissive of them)

Just seems like he's really pissed off his fellow celebs

Because you must live a sheltered life if you think all men are saints and never tell inappropriate jokes. Have you ever watched stand up like Jimmy Carr, Jim Jefffries etc, many jokes are sick but thats the point, and people often repeat them to friends and colleagues.

"If you think all men are saints" - here we go. The whole point is that these things are not ok. Not how many men do it. Are you really missing that point, or do you just not care? And the reason it continues is that so many men excuse each other with this bullshit kind of line. Like "boys wil be boys".

Yes, I'm familiar with the concept of men.
Gregg wasn't making these comments at a stand up show, as a comedian with a reputation for close to the bone humour. He was making them in a workplace, as the presenter of a food show, as the most powerful person in that room.
Any contestants who complained would be unlikely to progress in the show. Any freelancers who did would be risking not just that job but the rest of their careers and therefore the ability to pay their rent or mortgage. The risk to the likes of Gregg only comes when there is too much noise about someone for those higher up to ignore.

Its a joke. Allegedly one he made 20 years ago. Besides, it was how the dish tasted not how it looked.

Others here have suggested you must be Gregg or his agent and I think you may have outed yourself! I’ve just re-read the quote and it doesn’t mention whether they were talking about the dish’s appearance or flavour, just “what it reminds me of” which is making me a bit suspicious of your insider knowledge. 😉(winking emoji to indicate that’s a joke since you only seem to understand “jokes” about relatives’ genitals.)

I don't have friends and family like that, I think you are normalising something that belongs in the past (unfortunately).

You're welcome. It was BBC who reported the taste reference.

A male worker on MasterChef in 2005-06, who said Wallace regularly said sexually explicit things on set. He said Wallace once said a dish tasted like his aunt's vagina, and on another occasion, asked a female runner if she put her finger up her boyfriend's bottom

Jimmy Carr is now on the fringes of mainstream comedy because his "humour" has become less and less humourous and more out to offend and upset. Comedy is meant to be funny, nothing about what you Gregg said was humourous. Rather than being contrite youve he's doubled down and blamed being autistic. That shows the measure of the man.

CandleStub · 29/11/2024 20:34

People can choose to go and see off colour comedians if they wish. That’s completely different from having this behaviour forced on you in the workplace without your choice or agreement. For example, it’s alleged that while one member of wardrobe staff was cleaning something off GW’s trousers, he grabbed her head and started thrusting, as if she was giving him a blow job. That’s way beyond ordinary workplace banter- it’s assault.

No idea why anyone would try to normalise this.

FeetLikeFlippers · 29/11/2024 20:36

DanielaDressen · 29/11/2024 19:21

Didn’t he say something tasted like his aunt’s cunt, not looked like it? Which is even worse!

bet he’s off her Xmas card list!

Edited

Just re-read the alleged quote and they were talking about what it reminded them of and didn’t mention either appearance or taste, so I guess our dirty minds filled in the blanks, just in different ways!

I’m going by the quotes that the OP posted which didn’t include that one from the BBC. Gregg allegedly said “my aunt’s cunt” in response to John saying “ I can’t work out what it reminds me of” so we are all subconsciously jumping to conclusions about whether he meant its appearance or flavour - unless you were there of course.

And Popbitch reported it stunned the entire room into silence (production staff and contestants) and didn’t make the edit.

So, certainly not simply a jokey bit of bants behind his hand to one of his blokey colleagues. Not that that would be OK anyway in the workplace. We were fighting and reporting that shit in the late 80s ffs.

I mean when are we ever going to stop excusing this stuff as a joke women can't take!

PickledPony · 29/11/2024 21:03

I am interested in watching ‘inside the factory’ but Gregg presenting put me off. BBC have now hired Paddy McGuiness! He is also unbelievably annoying although I have read nothing to believe he is of the same ilk as GW. The concept is a good one so why the second rate presenters?

Shudahaddogs · 29/11/2024 21:05

Another sex pest given the green light by the BBC. Licence cancelled after the last straw Hew. Please everyone cancel, your funding this ...

I think if anybody brought up "my aunt's cunt" in any context I'd be stunned into silence.

Met some time after his first divorce in 1991
Son born around 1994
Daughter born around 1997
Married 1999
Divorced following his affair in 2004
Kids initially with her
She said he’d "never change" in explosive interview with People in 2009, warning his soon-to-be third wife not to settle down with him
He battled her for custody ‘as her alcoholism worsened’: no date
He won custody: no date
She died in 2017
[Sources: Express and Scum]

He also told Loose Women (2016) he was sexually abused aged 8 years.
And told Zoo magazine (2008) he was arrested for assault age 20, when he was a Millwall hooligan

Thank you for this @edithbond x

Hmm - I feel so sad for her that her alcoholism took her life 😢

I can't speculate on that tbh but I feel uneasy, especially as he treated her badly and then took the kids. No-one knows what happened behind closed doors I guess 😬

I knew his 3rd wife through a friend, she hadn't long been married to her first husband when she "met" Gregg through Twitter, he'd replied to her tweet, or vice versa, but God knows how he managed to woo her - she was nearly 20 years younger, pretty, a teacher...I see they were only married 15 months, lucky escape for her I reckon!

So glad she got away

Given the way this guy behaves, i don't think I'm out of order saying it was the money and lifestyle

BBC News reports today that Wallace has thanked those who've contacted him to express their support. If there are any at all, they're vastly outnumbered by people delighted to see the back of him.

I always think when people say this it is actually a load of nonsense and we are being trolled.

Yes, TBF it inspires my DH to cook and we have some nice dishes for dinner as a result as DH likes the detail.

Ninja 11 in 1 sounds great I love our basic Air fryer but it's so limited due to one tiny basket😄

I can imagine, the dishes do usually look delicious

Omg I haven't used it, i don't want to it's so shiny and new 🤭🤭

I've heard good things though and it comes with a recipe book!
