AIBU to spit on DH toothbrush

Toothbrushbitch · 28/11/2024 19:16

I’m ill. In particular, yesterday I was really ill in a way I haven’t been in years - rigors, fever, vomiting and white spotty tonsils.

I’m also pregnant.

It was 2yo DD day off from nursery. We have no family in a 2.5 hour radius. No local friends (moved here recently for DH job).

I begged DH to stay home from work to parent but he declined (not self employed). CBeebies parented our child most of the day.

fast forward to this evening and I ask DH if he can look after DD so I can please shower as I didn’t shower at all yesterday as felt too ill. He’s not helping at all, lying on the sofa watching Facebook videos. Child crying. Im doing housework. He then says I’m “demonstrably fine”.

I have spat on his toothbrush since he thinks this virus is demonstrably fine.

This is the kind of bullshit that happens in awful relationships and you're bringing another child into it.

I wouldn't even spit on my enemy's toothbrush, as it's such a disgusting act.

TipsyKoala · 28/11/2024 19:39

He’s being an arsehole but that is disgusting. And you may have shot yourself in the foot because if he does get ill he’ll likely be 10x worse that you’ve been with it.

sprigatito · 28/11/2024 19:41

OP you're exhausted and have a fever, you're upset and not thinking straight. I would wash his toothbrush in boiling water, you'll feel rotten about it later.

Do you still want to be married to him? He sounds selfish and uncaring. Do you love him? Why?

Edingril · 28/11/2024 19:42

Well if he is that useless why on earth have another with him?

Westofeasttoday · 28/11/2024 19:43

What the fuck is wrong with you? So it’s better when you are both sick. That might be the most selfish, narcissistic, self centred post I have ever read. Ever.

LostittoBostik · 28/11/2024 19:43

He's an arsehole. This is not the way to deal with it. If he gets it he will only claim that he's more sick with it than you were anyway.
Leave him. You'll have more time to rest if you do

LostittoBostik · 28/11/2024 19:46

Growuppeople · 28/11/2024 19:35

O poor you 🙄 Grow up! How do you think people on their own cope. Just leave if it’s always like that. Actually pathetic

Often better than people in relationships like this because they're not weighed down with the pain of carrying another person and never being supported in return. It's much, much easier to be single than deal with this shit.

gamerchick · 28/11/2024 19:47

Making him ill will make you feel better for about 20 minutes OP. Then you'll realise how much he will do you head in because he's ill.

He sounds like a collosal prick though. Will he pitch in when the babies born?

sometimesmovingforwards · 28/11/2024 19:48

What an incredibly sad, angry, uncaring, selfish household that sounds like.

Genuinely wishing everyone involved a better future.

(because it sounds grim as fuck at your place).

Pinkissmart · 28/11/2024 19:18

This cannot be real.
If so, I hope your husband divorces you. Shame

Huh? What about the bit where the sick pregnant woman wanted to have a shower and that knob lay on the sofa watching videos while his child cried? I’d say she’d be better off if he divorces her.

Embarrassed Shame GIF

Yep let's shame the woman for getting to their end of her tether with a lazy, abusive man.

Nothatgingerpirate · 28/11/2024 19:55

YABU.
This is not the solution.
I cannot imagine spitting on anything of my husband's etc.
I'm sorry about your situation.

mrstumbler · 28/11/2024 19:55

Op you're pregnant and poorly, I get your anger. But you know what men are like when they're ill, you're only Gona give yourself a harder time! Wash it off in the toilet

ByMerryKoala · 28/11/2024 19:58

You're both treating each other with contempt. It's really hard to come back from all this. Hope you feel better soon op and when you do I think it might be time to re evaluate what you are both getting from this relationship because it's definitely not support, respect or friendship.

Cryingatthegym · 28/11/2024 20:00

Not the best move, but to be perfectly honest I don't blame you for it. What a prick (him, not you).

Edit: Sorry, I get what the poster meant.

sprigatito · 28/11/2024 20:01

Yes @Dimpliy , but spitting on his toothbrush while she's infectious will make him ill.

ChristmasGrinch24 · 28/11/2024 20:01

That's grim.

SwordToFlamethrower · 28/11/2024 20:01

I think this is a very reasonable thing to do!

Cryingatthegym · 28/11/2024 20:02

Wash it off in the toilet

Yes, do this!

Dimpliy · 28/11/2024 20:02

sprigatito · 28/11/2024 20:01

Ah, I see. But sounds like he's not any help when he's well either.

HowMuchOfYourHeart · 28/11/2024 20:05

Your DH is in an abusive relationship.

Like the four horsemen of marriage? If all 4 are there it's bad news for the future.

Go to bed OP, no more housework until you're feeling better. Let him fend for himself.

arethereanyleftatall · 28/11/2024 20:09

So you both hate each others guts? Sounds fun.
