Visited my parents to drop dinner over. Myum
kwpt waffling about something after work and I said “how many times have we heard this now” she then turned around and nudged my dad and said “ooh look at her. She’s rude. She’s not my daughter. My daughter is supposed to have manners” at which point I got in the car and ignored her and drove back to mine. She thinks I’m being unreasonable and a brat. I however. Think what she said was rude and stupid.

Arrange meals on wheels and step back - they are getting on your nerves and you sound stressed.

Jokey sarcasm is rude if directed towards your mum in her own house, especially if she is feeling worried or anxious. Were you taking a bit of a liberty with your words because you were irritated or in a bad mood? It was probably an unnecessary comment that really upset her. Can’t really blame her for seeing it as an attack on her character.

Mums do tend to think they can still check their adult children’s manners if they are lacking and that can be annoying at times I agree. -You need a generosity of spirit to let it go.
I’d dig deep, just give her a hug next time you see her and think nothing more of it.
