DH has gone out tonight with his friends. He doesn't really go out often.
Neither do I but I'd say I probably go out more often than him.
Both of us just busy with work, 2 young kids, life takes over !

But I just really enjoy having the house to myself. I feel like the evening is really calm and runs smoothly. I've cleaned up after dinner, hoovered, put the Christmas lights on and a nice candle. I'm just putting the kids to bed and looking forward to finding something rubbish to watch on tv. Perfect.

I do enjoy DHs company but some evenings I just wanna sit in quiet, scroll mindlessly and eat snacks Grin

My dh has spent the weekend doing diy which has included a whole lot of sawing with a table saw. I am so looking forward to next weekend. He is out both days. Need to plan my snacks for then.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 24/11/2024 17:29

I had the house to myself this morning. Did a few washing loads, bit of cleaning and then made a pot of tea and did some of my jigsaw whilst listening to an audiobook.

Bliss.

wasdarknowblond · 24/11/2024 17:41

Hell no! I LOVE it when mine goes out for the evening.

Propereastender · 24/11/2024 17:46

YANBU! DH very rarely goes out out, but he plays sport a few times a week so is out for a few hours of an evening. I always love it! Chilling on the sofa, able to scroll on my phone without being told off 😬 and/or watching true crime or reality trash. Bliss!

NDerbys32 · 24/11/2024 17:47

My wife goes put occasionally with friends for drinks. Not my scene so, last night it was my fav dinner - steak, eggs, mushrooms and beans with thick bread and butter - a strong brew, bath, books and vinyl on.

Umbrella15 · 24/11/2024 17:48

Yep the same here. My husband goes on a lads week away every Feb, and I just love having the house to myself (I say myself my son is also here). I can eat what I want, watch on tv something I want to watch, read in bed and have the whole bed to myself. A friend of mine dosent understand why I like it so much, she just dosent get it.

Lincslady53 · 24/11/2024 18:03

My DH is on a Rotary Club that meets every Wednesday evening. They ask the wives if they want to join too, but none of us want to. We all join in socials, and help fundraising when needed, but we all like our Wednesday evenings on our own. I catch up on the tv things he isn't bothered about, have a snacky tea and just love the few hours on my own. Don't want any more time on my own, but the one evening is my time.

Cattery · 24/11/2024 18:07

I keep telling dh he must go abroad for a couple of nights to visit his parents. I plan to play my new Spotify list at full blast on the sound bar whilst drinking beer then take the cat up to bed with me. Perfect and not much to ask x

BooBooDoodle · 24/11/2024 18:09

Nah, you’re spot on. I feel more organised and the house is so much cleaner and most of all, I get to sit down and relax as I know I’ve done everything and it won’t get messed up again.

JedwardScissorhandz · 23/11/2024 21:15

Snap! I currently have my records playing so loudly the walls are vibrating and a very large baileys on ice in my hand.
Wish he'd go out more often tbh 😂

Heaven on earth

Judecb · 24/11/2024 18:14

Time apart is the secret to a happy marriage in my opinion! Married 27 years!!

greengreyblue · 24/11/2024 18:15

YANBU. I love my DH but I do love alone time. He always asks what I’m going to be doing and if I’m ok but I’m just fine thanks! 😂 Enjoy

Herewegoago · 24/11/2024 18:18

Nope! Like you my DH doesn’t go out very often but when he does I make the most of it!

The kids get to pick a ‘treat’ kind of tea, usually an oven pizza or happy meal or similar, then I cook myself a nice pasta dish or something once they’ve settled for the night. They’re young so don’t always sleep through but it’s generally a peaceful evening. I might have a bath with a glass of wine and watch a film. It’s such a luxury to have noone but myself to please or have to share anything with for a few hours, even having the bed to myself to fall asleep in is fab!

restingbitchface30 · 24/11/2024 18:25

My partner doesn’t go out much so I started encouraging him to have his friends round here. When he does I go upstairs, get some snacks and watch something in bed. It’s bliss!

EllieRosesMammy · 24/11/2024 18:27

Yanbu!

I love my husband to pieces, he's the best man and father I could ask for. But I still love my time alone🤣 sometimes it's nice to just have some completely peaceful alone time! I think it's a sign of a comfortable secure relationship x

whatisforteamum · 24/11/2024 18:33

YANBU.
My DH is away for four days helping DD move house several hundred miles away.
No dcs as they both left home yrs ago.
Just me and 2 cats.
No clattering of pots and pans,no sniffing coughing or bodily noises.
After 38 yrs I think we both deserve it a few times a yr.

RebeccaRedhat · 24/11/2024 19:14

I LOVE it 😀
My husband never goes out, but he did last Saturday, then worked away Tuesday to Friday and was out again last night. It's been brill!
Sadly that's it now until about February but I enjoyed it for a while!

Hazey19 · 24/11/2024 19:33

You are not being unreasonable. I love it when mine goes out!

stanleypops66 · 24/11/2024 21:09

I love it too or when dh decides to go to bed early and I get an hour or two to watch a film, glass of wine with a roaring fire in peace!

Motheranddaughter · 24/11/2024 21:10

I love a night in on my own

DisabledDemon · 24/11/2024 21:24

jinglejingles · 23/11/2024 20:24

I just really enjoy my own company! I'd love to just escape to a quiet little cottage somewhere for a week all alone...ahhhh.

Well, the kids are asleep and not due to see them again until at least 7am so I'll enjoy that for now Grin
What to watch, that's the next question?!

Try IF - lovely film with a happy ending.

FlipFlopVibe · 24/11/2024 22:14

Love it, my DH went out to play a hobby tonight, left at 6 having done nothing to help cook tea so usual juggle trying to feed 1 year old with no patience and 5 year old refusing to eat, straight into cleaning up after a roast, then straight up bath, on to youngest bedtime whilst trying to keep 5 year old out the room. Then on to oldest bedtime, she refused to read her school book, do her teeth, lie still. Got out of bed several times with pointless questions. Baskets of clean washing everywhere to put away, toys to tidy. I tried to dispose of a huge balloon that burst in my face and nearly took me out. Eventually walked in the living room at 9pm to sit down, just as the front door opens. DH is home 😩

Curlygirl06 · 24/11/2024 22:35

recordersaregreat · 23/11/2024 21:01

DH and DD are both away (separately) not just for the evening, but the whole weekend. Do I win?!

My dh sometimes works away, can never schedule it as sometimes he's home all week, sometimes away the odd night, sometimes all week and recently-3 1/2 weeks in Spain, lucky bugger!
He's away next week, I get the bed to myself, I can watch what I want on tv, although the downside is is that I have to do the cooking and put the bins out. Mind you last time he was away I lived on pot noodles and toast bloody lovely!

Marmite27 · 24/11/2024 22:38

Years ago, before he was DH, DH did a 2pm-10pm shift every six weeks on a Saturday and a Sunday.

I bloody loved those weekends!

Tink3rbell30 · 24/11/2024 23:08

Imagine this every night 😍 the best! I used to be like you and love it when DP went out, I eventually became single and it's so much calmer and more relaxing.
