Or is this add a bit off? Thinking of contacting Tesco but maybe I’m bring OTT?

Is it just me

Off in what way?

Off in what way?

Guessing she think it looks a bit inappropriate?

Like the girl is posing older than her age?

2024onwardsandup · 22/11/2024 11:17

Yep - it’s off

DragonGypsyDoris · 22/11/2024 11:18

Bear with while I clutch my pearls ... Putin could nuke the west, and you're worried about a posed marketing photo?

Buddhistcauliflower · 22/11/2024 11:21

A child shouldn't be posed in that way. There are more age appropriate ways to pose that child in that outfit.

Catza · 22/11/2024 11:24

It's a child wearing full cover top and shorts. Oh dear, she has some leg exposed. Are we in 1800s? Would you feel the same if it was a boy?
If your mind immediately goes into "inappropriate" place when you see a young teenager sitting on the floor, I'm afraid it's more of a you problem.

Babbahabba · 22/11/2024 12:23

I know what you mean, the pose is a bit suggestive but I couldn't be bothered to complain about it.

You know that people can be concerned about multiple different issues at once, right?

YANBU OP.

It’s really not. It can be a sign of hyper vigilance, for example. Which is a good thing - a paedo isn’t worried about things being inappropriate, they’d love it. EG when pregnant I experienced Pure O and was paranoid I’d abuse my child - it was my worst fear, so obviously I wasn’t going to go and do it!

Ellie1015 · 22/11/2024 12:26

If i accidentally photographed my dd at in that pose I would retake. I do think it is a bit odd for a professional marketing ad.

peepsquick · 22/11/2024 12:43

It does look very adult, not just the pose but the clothes and is she wearing make up? I don't know why girls aren't allowed to be girls and need to be dressed up like mini adults.

Preppingdonkey · 22/11/2024 12:44

Why are you wasting time worrying about the OP then?!

Yep because sexial exploitation of children, still matters.
Legs open, mouth slightly open, it's a adult pose and completely unnecessary. Link how to complain and you won't be the only one doing so.

mondaytosunday · 22/11/2024 14:04

It's a kid sitting awkward the floor. Not sure who the pleather/leather shorts would appeal too but looks fine to me.

nfkl · 22/11/2024 14:08

It s off.
From the pose to the leather to the leopard print to the makeup.
She looks like she's 11, not even a teen yet.

Yes the clothes are rather adult - leather(look) shorts and an animal print top?

Apileofballyhoo · 22/11/2024 14:20

Child with makeup wearing adult style clothes posed in a suggestive way, yes, it's off.

StormingNorman · 22/11/2024 14:26

For me it’s the outfit. Leather shorts and a sheer leopard print top. It’s overtly sexual. Particularly with the red lipstick.

It’s reminiscent of the “on a bender” and “just been shagged” fashion photos from the 90s.

Are you aware that it's possible to be bothered about more than one thing at a time?
@Pippa246 I think the style of the clothes, make up and pose look far too old for the age that the model looks.

That's the issue though, we don't see boys that age in equivalent poses and equivalent adult looking clothes.
It's actually a you issue if you think this is appropriate.

Onlyvisiting · 22/11/2024 14:32

My first reaction was eww. So I don't think you are OTT. Assuming this is advertising children's clothing? She looks very young to me but I'm a poor judge, so if it's aimed at teens or older it's maybe not so bad. (Still ick, but less so).

Onlyvisiting · 22/11/2024 14:34

Edit to add you might do better highlighting it to a child abuse charity type of place (hopefully someone else could be more specific) for their opinion on it, as your voice is unlikely to be listened to, theirs might be.

MillyMichaelson · 22/11/2024 14:36

The legs open pose feels inappropriate to me. Paired with leather and leopard print and it feels too adult for this, what, 8 year old girl?

pointlesspoints · 22/11/2024 14:38

DragonGypsyDoris · 22/11/2024 11:18

I mean he could, does this mean we should no longer bother to protect our children?

TwentyBillion · 22/11/2024 14:39
