What to call an unborn child?

I am 10 weeks pregnant.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm finding it difficult to know what to call my unborn child at this stage. It doesn't feel right to call it a baby, child or even fetus.

Any suggestions?

Our first was sweet pea, and our second popps (Poppy seed) as that's what size they were on the comparison charts when we found out I was pregnant

Mine were (are!) both Pickle

SleepFinally · 19/11/2024 10:11

My babies were both 'Bob' when I was pregnant! When they were born they were called 'the Bobs' sometimes because we had got used to calling them Bob when I was pregnant! (we didn't know their sex till they were born! so it was a unisex 'Bob'!!) Even now (oldest is at secondary!) my DC still get referred to as 'the Bobs' between DH and I occasionally! (e.g. 'who's taking the Bobs to football?') 🙂👍

Peanut. I had one of those apps that tells you what fruit they're the same size as each week, and when I first started using it she was a peanut.

Now she's called Bob. Sometimes with a blackadder voice, which she doesn't understand yet Grin

Just imagining the black adder voice. Hilarious. 😂😂😂

Fetus is the Latin word for baby.

GiddyRobin · 19/11/2024 10:29

Mine were both "Thing" right up until they emerged! Still call them that now sometimes, it makes them giggle.

Cheesetoastiees · 19/11/2024 10:31

Mine was little pea or the baby!

ChocolateTelephone · 19/11/2024 10:32

I called mine Jimmy the Feet.

Oneearringlost · 19/11/2024 10:32

"It", for us, I'm afraid.

IVFKinster · 19/11/2024 10:37

I called mine whatever the pregnancy app says it was at the time.
The pea, the pear, the banana etc. Just for fun and because what do you call them otherwise? When they started kicking the crap out of me I called them "the baby".

zingally · 19/11/2024 10:37

Both of ours were Bump, "How's Bump today?"

When our DS was born and given to DH for the first time, the first thing he said was "Hello Bump!" Which still makes us chuckle.

Manyshelves · 19/11/2024 10:40

Snoop, as in Dogg

i can’t remember exactly why, but it did lead to Tales from the crib 😀

Greentreesandbushes · 19/11/2024 10:41

I called mine Buster

alwaysnapping · 19/11/2024 10:52

Sprog.

SharpOpalNewt · 19/11/2024 10:53

I'd go with Bob.

knackered101 · 19/11/2024 10:55

I just called mine baby and further along baby boy

jolota · 19/11/2024 10:59

We called it bean the first time around, because its basically that size for ages.
This time, idk we don't really talk about it so much, I'm at 10 weeks too.

NormaNormalPants · 19/11/2024 11:03

DD was Pea, our second is imaginatively known as Two or #2 😂

YesYesAllGood · 19/11/2024 11:14

We made up a funny nickname based on our surname.

Thamantha · 19/11/2024 11:27

Ours were 'sproutface' and 'jumping bean' while in the womb - loosely based off the 'fruit of the womb' type apps that suggest what size fruit/vegetable/legume your fetus is at any given week.

Nothatgingerpirate · 19/11/2024 11:27

I'd call that foetus, but that's not what you're after?

Florafaunafish · 19/11/2024 11:31

It, or the baby. Signed cards etc with family names and 'bump' towards the end of the pregnancy but would not have at 10 weeks.

JubileeJuice · 18/11/2024 23:17

Mine was The Unborn

I wish I'd thought of that 😂

TomatoSandwiches · 19/11/2024 11:34

The parasite.
