To ask your resting heart rate

Kate489 · 18/11/2024 17:46

Mine is averaging 55bpm, which Dr Google says is too low unless I'm an athlete. I'm not an athlete. I would manage a 5km in 37 minutes at a push nowadays.

Wondering what yours is?

Mine was 58 at the GP today.

I had some minor surgery a while ago and was watching the monitor during the surgery. I just spent the time focusing on my heart rate and seeing if I could go into a Zen like state by trying to get it low.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/11/2024 19:26

@Toodaloo1567 I think people might be confusing resting heart rate with the lowest rate their watch shows during the night.

No, the Apple Watch makes the distinction - resting heart rate excludes sleep time. That's shown separately.

IBlameTheDog · 18/11/2024 19:27

53 at the minute. Averages around 56/57

Lemonade2011 · 18/11/2024 19:27

Mine is 70,(average? I’m 45 so no idea if that’s good or not, got all this stuff on my Apple Watch

rayofsunshine86 · 18/11/2024 19:27

My resting HR is normally around 80. This has hardly changed even though I used to run marathons regularly. I'm absolutely nowhere near able to run even a 5k at the moment!

My BP is pretty low. The last time I had it taken it was 93/61. I do occasionally get visual blackouts when I stand up too quickly 😅 I've never fainted though ...yet.

TwinklyAmberOrca · 18/11/2024 19:31

52 bpm

I'm mid 40s, go to the gym twice a week and do 2 hours of kick boxing a week. Reasonably fit.

HollyKnight · 18/11/2024 19:43

73

You'll get a lot of responses from people with below-average heart rates, but most of those heart rates are taken from fitness trackers which aren't reliable. Also a lot of people will have arrhythmias that they aren't aware off which throws off readings too. Heart rate should be measured manually.

SnacklessWonder · 18/11/2024 19:50

Used to be 63, since taking Mounjaro it's around 73 even though I am now fitter and healthier 😎

ColonelRhubarbBikini · 18/11/2024 19:52

Resting is between 45 and 50. Goes down as low as 39 when I sleep. Mid thirties and healthy weight. I’m no athlete though, the only thing I run is my mouth.

I do have very low blood pressure which I’m wondering if it’s connected. No ill effects apart from getting a buzz if I stand up too quick.

AlteredStater · 18/11/2024 19:56

Mine is around 64 - taken via BP monitor so is accurate. I have hypothyroidism and am unfit.

safetyfreak · 18/11/2024 19:56

35 years old- average 61-76bpm

JasmineTea11 · 18/11/2024 19:59

5k in 37 mins is decent, that's what I do and I consider myself quite fit?! Maybe I'm deluded.

BigDahliaFan · 18/11/2024 20:15

Friend of mine was told hers was normal...for an Olympic athlete 40. She's now got a pacemaker.

yep.
I was told low heart beats need to be monitored. especially in peri as hormone changes can affect the heart.

RunningJo · 18/11/2024 20:24

Around 45-48 usually but I run so that makes a difference I’m told

Scrambledchickens · 18/11/2024 20:55

If you run having a low pulse isn’t unusual. I am a midwife and even at full term the mums with low pulses are always runners, they are delighted when I mention this :)

Greatandsmall · 18/11/2024 21:03

Mines 56.
Very unfit other than walking.

BloodPressureHell · 18/11/2024 21:10

Mine is between 65 and 75 usually. Was put on a new blood pressure tablet recently and it went down to 48. I only realised this because I was having chest pains and felt really weird. Didn't change my actual pressure though 🙄

Cel77 · 18/11/2024 21:18

Mine is between 60 and 75. Not very active apart from being on my feet all day (teacher), being a mum of two young ones, and walking the puppy for 20 minutes a day.
I need to exercise more surely.

itsallabitofamystery · 18/11/2024 21:29

Around 75 according to my Apple Watch. I had never really paid attention to my heart rate until my watch literally saved my life 6 weeks ago by alerting to me my soaring heart rate - I had sepsis.

namechanged221 · 18/11/2024 21:33

52..... but some days 48

I run about 3x per week, maybe 20-30 kms per week

dreamer24 · 18/11/2024 21:33

Mine sits between 40-49. In my sleep my Apple Watch has logged it as low as 37. I'm not athletic but I do run once a week and do the occasional gym class. Medics say it's not a concern unless I have symptoms such as dizziness or shortness of breath, which I don't. It's apparently just my normal. My BP is also on the low side of normal, around 90/55. Again, just normal for me I think.

dreamer24 · 18/11/2024 21:35

HollyKnight · 18/11/2024 19:43

Mine are based on both my Apple Watch and as taken by medics (including GP and during a recent hospital stay)- they are in agreement with each other. Low to mid 40s at rest, never higher.

loveawineloveacrisp · 18/11/2024 21:41

Around 60, but I do a lot of cardio.

SweetSugarPlum · 18/11/2024 21:51

I am 30yo female and mine is 55bpm too, I am exercise intolerant so no athlete.
