To ask your resting heart rate

Mine is averaging 55bpm, which Dr Google says is too low unless I'm an athlete. I'm not an athlete. I would manage a 5km in 37 minutes at a push nowadays.

Wondering what yours is?

65 on average according to my Apple Watch. Did used to be an average of 74 until I started losing weight and exercising.

weareallcats · 18/11/2024 17:59

Mine is also naturally fairly low - usually somewhere between 58 and 62. Definitely not an athlete!

cartreffi · 18/11/2024 17:59

Mine averages at 48 according to my watch. Age 47 and reasonably fit.

Kate489 · 18/11/2024 18:00

Thank you for the responses! This is reassuring!

About 48-50 (on my watch but also confirmed manually and by a 24hr ECG). I'm mid 40s and exercise regularly but very fat and unfit. Agree with PP who said to ignore Dr Google. There is a wide range of normal and unless you have other symptoms it's unlikely to be a problem. Mine is likely genetic - my father who is even fatter and less fit (and obviously older!) than me is only a little bit higher (high 50s).

TiramisuTastesDreamy · 18/11/2024 18:01

43-47 another runner here

RosesAndHellebores · 18/11/2024 18:01

Mine's always high. It's just the way I am.

Delatron · 18/11/2024 18:05

Mid 40s normally though have seen it go as low as 39. Do lots of running (apart from at the moment with this awful virus that’s going round).

AlmostAJillSandwich · 18/11/2024 18:07

High 90's according to my fitbit. I'm 35.

Reapout · 18/11/2024 18:07

65 which is a lot lower than it used to be, which confuses me as it dropped when I stopped exercise, eating fairly crappy and going through some serious health things, I’d have expected it to go up.

Dolly567 · 18/11/2024 18:08

Reading all these has me a little worried now

Mines 86ish sometimes and if I slightly move goes up to 100! I'm only 32

Not overweight?

Kerplonker · 18/11/2024 18:10

Mine is 50 this week. Aged 48, not very fit but lift weights. I had mine checked by wearing the monitor - there were no issues.
Reading this thread I’m wondering if this another one of those things in which average human really means average male.

LaurieFairyCake · 18/11/2024 18:10

77

PeloMom · 18/11/2024 18:11

Mine is mid- high 40s but I’m an athlete.

Incakewetrust · 18/11/2024 18:11

Average resting rate is 71 according to my Apple Watch. At this exact moment, it's 82.

PickAChew · 18/11/2024 18:11

High 60s.

Penguinmouse · 18/11/2024 18:13

61 - fairly fit but no athlete

SquatWeightaMinute · 18/11/2024 18:14

55bpm today on my Apple Watch.

HarrietJonesFlydaleNorth · 18/11/2024 18:14

54-58 and I'm very out of shape! Definitely not an athlete 😬 it's always been around this as far as I know.

Iceache · 18/11/2024 18:16

64 according to my watch. I exercise regularly and run, but I am not an athlete and mainly do it to keep my heart healthy!

Notaflippinclue · 18/11/2024 18:17

60

Mew2 · 18/11/2024 18:18

Normally about 65- until ovulation and time of the month when it sits at 71
Fairly fit and active-7 hours physical activity a week- but bmi of 39....

ADisreputableJade · 18/11/2024 18:19

44ish. Aged 64, overweight but do exercise from time to time. All the women on my mum's side have low heart rates, low blood pressure, and occasional low blood sugar levels. I used to faint a lot as a teenager but not happened for decades now. It seems to be our norm.

marriednotdead · 18/11/2024 18:19

57 according to the machine at the GPs the other day. Which is slightly lower than my age. I'm active and slimmish but far from fit!

MargaritaPracticallyCan · 18/11/2024 18:21

Around 56-58. I'm late 40s, walk 5/10k a day and work out 3 X a week. Pretty healthy, weight's fine.
If I do a high impact workout my BPM goes through the roof, but recovery is quick, so not worried about it.
