Why are people boycotting Boots? Are you?

For full disclosure I haven't seen the advert yet, but I'll probably end up searching for it if I don't come across it naturally during viewing in the next few days.

I've seen the #boycottboots and have worked out it's to do with their new Christmas ad. What's the issue? Are you boycotting Boots or do you think people are overreacting?

Randomly choosing the poll options simply because as stated I've not seen the ad so I don't currently have an opinion either way

That doesn't make it right. Its womanface and very offensive. Women stood and fought with gays for them to get their rights, and this is how they repay us. If men performing as drag queens, gay or not, had any decency they wouldn't do it.

They refuse to take on board the fact that if it is only racists who object to this Boots advert, then why is there not a similar sized controversy about every advert featuring people of colour?

There WAS a similar size controversy the other year over nothing more than a black family celebrating Christmas in a Sainsbury's advert. That was literally the "problem" with it for some
It was all over social media and racist comments .
Just because you personally may or might not have a problem with black people in the advert, and only drag queens and trans people, clearly a lot do, sadly.

What does the Boots advert have to do with trans rights or racism? Is the Father Christmas character really a woman or something? I've only seen the ad once and it seemed OK to me.

Well, yeah! Why wouldn't you? We are the oppressed sex and we stuck our neck out for them to get rights. At the very least, they could choose not to mock us!

@JWKD I met a transvestite, born male, who claims he is a lesbian. He can claim what he wants, it's his right to do that. It's my right to roll my eyes and ignore. No harm done to either one of us! Gays and trans persons are not dropping dead from a bit of eyerolling.

Racism, on the other hand, has resulted in violence and death. It's not remotely the same. Let's keep this in perspective. In southern states in the US many black people were forbidden to use the same facilities as white people. refused using a bathroom for something they can't help? When have LGBT been subjected to anything like that?

I mean.. it's a crappy add. Offensive enough to boycott Boots? Not to me. It also doesn't make me want to shop there.

I mean, you can't help being non binary or trans, fair enough, but a few minutes of discomfort when using the bathroom isn't a big deal compared to what many black people face daily, even still. I'm not black, I only have the faintest idea of this issue but I can see the difference.

I doubt she is anything like that stereotype. Don't those Middle class privileged woke types tend to subscribe to the idea that racism against whites isn't a thing?

Drag queens aren't all gay. It's a different movement altogether.

Whilst trans men are claiming to be lesbians that is appropriating lesbianism and is homophobic . they don't get called out on it because they are men. They are privileged because they are the top of the social pole.

These types like to whine about not being able to use women's refuges or monopolize rape crisis centres. Seriously I am playing the smallest violin.

Haven't seen the ad, but is it correct that people are boycotting because Mrs Claus is black? Why on earth can't she be?!! If that is the case it's racism, pure and simple.

People obviously have too much time on their hands to be getting worked up over this.

I don't care how people identify but it's the same as a white person LARPing as being black. Or an able bodied person playing at being disabled. A cat cannot be a tree. A man cannot be a lesbian. They just the same as Rachael dolezal or that woman who blinded herself . It's not something that needs taking seriously tbh.
