"chest feeding" men should not be put above women and babies by La Leche League. Reasonable?

GenerativeAIBot · 14/11/2024 16:40

How many women will self exclude based on this outcome? How many children will suffer because of it? Anything more than zero is unacceptable

This is the direct and foreseeable outcome of ever allowing the word woman to be mutable. This is the ultimate outcome of all these progressive policies, generally well meaning, with terrible outcomes

Identity politics should be dead and we need to bury it.

Trustee quits breastfeeding charity over trans policy

Miriam Main resigned from La Leche League over a policy that allows biological men to attend support groups

Exactly this!! You're gonna go through all that trauma in your life, be brave enough to come out as Trans... but the word breastfeeding will send you over the edge? Absolutely not!

How many trans people even agree/care about this change of wording? I'm sure they aren't even fussed about it and the ones that are... well. I'll leave that unsaid.

Affirming trans feels is more important than any women you filthy bigot.

Because “be kind” I believe.

and because humans really can change sex.

and because being male or female is more sort of a feeling, than cold hard facts….

For a second, I thought you were being serious with this tripe!

I miss the days when people kept their squalid little fetishes behind closed doors. Good times.

Amen!

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 14/11/2024 18:59

How disgusting that male desires are being prioritised over the wellbeing of BABIES. FFS. It's child abuse.

eacapade1982 · 14/11/2024 19:09

This term is intended to be inclusive for transmen and not transwomen. I’m pretty sure that any transwoman who decided to breastfeed would not have a problem calling it breastfeeding and in fact would not want to call it chestfeeding instead.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 14/11/2024 19:11

RadioBamboo · 14/11/2024 17:57

True, but in fact just about unheard of in the real world! It may be theoretically possible (but not really successful) in a research setting, but in practice it's much more relevant (and successful) in working people up into a froth of outrage!

Transmen chestfeeding is what the policy is really about.

If the policy were about trans men breastfeeding, nobody would be resigning over it.

eacapade1982 · 14/11/2024 19:17

The policies might be inclusive of both transmen and transwomen. But this thread was specifically about the term chestfeeding and that is inclusive for transmen, not transwomen.

Jl2014 · 14/11/2024 19:18

I really don’t get it. Surely this is child abuse??

HermioneWeasley · 14/11/2024 19:24

Encouraging a baby to suck the chemically induced secretions from a man’s nipple is so obviously child abuse that I have no words for the fact it is not just permitted but encouraged.

has everyone lost their fucking minds?

You'd think wouldn't you?

But no, the 'most oppressed' have found their way to be applauded for their fetish.

And we're just bigots for objecting to it.

Apparently not to trans and their enablers.

To sane people it's child abuse.

It's particularly awful given the low breastfeeding rates. It's something that is really hard for many mothers and this is just one more barrier to something which should be made easier.

Exactly. It's already something that many women need support with. I can't believe LLL are abandoning all women who don't want men to watch them feed either.

Helleofabore · 14/11/2024 18:01

It gets worse. Women who discuss it online in Australia can be told they have broken the law. Because a male centred experience (there is no proven robust study done on these secretions to show they are safe in the long term) must only be celebrated apparently.

Two Australian Women Told They Broke The Law After Criticizing Trans-Identified Male Breastfeeding Child - Reduxx

They've lost it down under.

Thevelvelletes · 14/11/2024 19:37

It wasn't long ago that breastfeeding in public was viewed as something abhorrent (very wrong obviously).
How the hell have we arrived at the point men can breast feed.. society is fucked.

The term "breastfeeding" is inclusive of anyone who is using their breasts to feed a baby.

If transmen don't have breasts, how are they feeding babies?

I guess they can if they haven't had a mastectomy.

This story has made my terfy blood boil even more than usual
so fucking sick of men elbowing in on every aspect of womanhood
there’s no such thing as chest feeding
it’s breastfeeding
only WOMEN can do it
i will die on this hill

ShinyOtter · 14/11/2024 20:24

I don't understand how a biological male can breastfeed, surely he has no milk ducts?

I can’t believe you’d commit ACTUAL VIOLENCE against our trans and non binary sisters by saying such things.

Just read some of those links posted and it's made me feel sick. wtf !! Can us women not have fucking anything of our own ? Those poor babies being forced fed.
Anyone seen that episode of family guy with Peter feeding stewie? Yeah...

samarrange · 14/11/2024 20:53

This thread is very confusing because various people are using both "transwoman" and "transman" to mean 'biological male", and other people are using "transwoman" and "transman" to mean 'biological female", and 50% of posters think the issue documented in the linked article is about biological males and the other 50% think it's about biological males.

Some of those various people are arguing at cross-purposes with each other and in some cases neither party recognises that they're doing that.

This happens quite a lot on MN and it's always very frustrating to read. We really need the first post to be editable long after the 5-minute window, so that the OP can clarify when something turns out to be badly comprehended.

Edited

Interestingly that’s one of the big problems with trans language. Most people are not sure if a “trans woman” is male to female or female to male. The office of national statistics even screwed it up

Exactly. Real life is turning into an episode of Family Guy. It's farcical.
