I’d be interested to know if I seem like an old mum to others. I’m 10 years older than a couple of mums in DDs class and I will be 46 when DS starts reception. There might be mums 15 years younger than me. I think until this year people would generally be surprised but at 44 my face has suddenly aged!

I have a decent amount of energy, perimenopause challenges aside! I don’t feel too old.

after speaking about how I feel and I felt at the time I’m too old in terms of not being here for them as long as I would like to. But I know if I look after my self then there is every chance I will be. You are not too old hun

Why is 35 a cut off for you?

Why are you so interested? My cut off would have probably been 30. But I was done by 23. We obviously live and have lived very different lives.

Angry? I'm not remotely angry.

I am asking you a question on an open forum.

Those who had young will say anything over 30/35 is ancient

Those who maybe struggled to have children /didn't meet the man till late in life will say nothing wrong with 35/49/45 even

The older the better sometimes as more patience - have a good career - not struggling with money

Yes a risk if have later in life you may struggle with preg /maybe have sen /may die

Equally as a member of way - widowed and young - people do die Parents do die. Children are left without a parent

It's sucks but you can't change or stop it

In the end it really doesn't matter - old or young

The child /ren are much wanted and loved

No such thing as “too old” for a natural pregnancy in my opinion. I don’t know many people under 30 who have the house, finances and career in place to think bringing a baby into the world is a good idea. Hence the “older” age of mothers these days.

I am 36 and pregnant with my first. For me personally the cut off would probably be 40 for having another.

Why would your cut off be 40? If you don’t mind me asking 🙂

Whenever you're going through menopause and unable to have one.

I think it os very personal. There might be struggles to get pregnant, might not have a right patner or right circumstances. I'm above the age of what many has said that it is too old. The choice for me is being too old or no kids. I think if I haven't gotten any by 42 assuming im healthy then I will stop trying. I still wouldn't call it too old.

Why would you stop trying at 42?

I’m 41 and want 1 more in the future 6th baby.. (always wanted a big family) as there was 10 of us was amazing my parents were amazing! but may not now because of my age…and just concentrate on the ones I’m blessed with. Considering I struggled with secondary infertility for 6 years 3 miscarriages then to finally get my babies. I’m currently pregnant with 5th baby.

So if I have this right @Shaz83

You have 4kids. 3 under 4 including twins and a 9yr

Preg with 5th

and wondering if have a 6th and then 42 be too old ?

9 year old

3 year old

twins 21 months old

currrently pregnant with 5th due very soon.

and yes I know it would be only a year if I had got pregnant asap don’t make no difference so was a silly question 😂

Here the poster has also said that they’re quite tired dealing with their 11 year old now. This I believe has answered your question, no?

They seem very offended if people say they don't think 42 is too old....

I don't think 42 is too old. But it is for ME and lots of other posters. Pointing this out though apparently makes you angry...

Yes. Indeed it is me that looks like the weirdo. You keep telling yourself that.

I was asking you why you were interested? And as another poster has pointed out, it's fairly obvious what their reasons are by their original responses

how old are you btw? And no one likes to be told they are too old….. I think women need to be kind to each other on here there are too many angry people on it…and be careful how they word things on here…. There are ways of telling someone they are too old in a way were the person won’t feel like omg I’m ancient! Because I know I ain’t!

I aren't saying anyone is too old. I am saying that it would be too old FOR ME. For MY circumstances. If people haven't lived the same life and had the same experiences their opinions on whether they feel they are too old for babies are obviously going to differ.

As I said way back on page one, I was done by 23. I was significantly more disabled by 28, so if I hadn't had DC I wouldn't have had any.

I am now 34 and I couldn't go ahead with a pregnancy. Whereas peers are only just starting

You need to stop being so defensive if you literally ask for people's opinions

Monster6 · 21/11/2024 12:39

Shaz83 · 21/11/2024 10:48

Why is 35 a cut off for you?

I didn’t want to be any older while having responsibility for children. I wanted to head into an earlier retirement where I can travel, be less hands on with kids, and boost the chances of being a fit grandparent. All these things are not a given or a certainty of course, but collectively they formed part of my reasoning for having children before 35. 😊 All just personal reasons

It's on an open forum.

It's not strange to reply to posts. Other posters have commented on posts where you haven't directly reply to them, are they all weird too?

What's weird is giving a shit about what others deem is too old for them to have kids and getting all wound up about it when they say younger than 42.
