currently stuck in a career I’m not happy in. Would love to find something I love and leave the corporate world for good.

If you love your job what is it that you do?

High intensity psychotherapist in NHS primary care.

Bushmillsbabe · 12/11/2024 20:14

Paediatric Physiotherapist. The strength and determination of the families I work with is so inspiring against huge adversity.

Osory · 12/11/2024 20:16

Bit of an emotional Rollercoaster at times, the lows are low and the highs are high.. but 20 years later I still love the buzz of it

I do something in a high-profile Civil Service policy area. I work with overseas partners, and get to travel. Great fun.

Ihaveneedofwaternear · 12/11/2024 20:22

Speech and language therapist, specialising in learning disability. Love it.

Allwelcone · 12/11/2024 20:22

Op I think you'll get reposes reflecting posters' temperament and luck.
I love my job as a charity bod, charity is homely and not stretched financially, sometimes glam, sometimes genuinely helpful and moving, i like the semse of history too.
The colleagues are what make it so nice. I "fit" iykwim

Vimaybe · 12/11/2024 20:29

Procurement - I love it loads more interesting than it sounds

NewNameNumber43 · 12/11/2024 20:31

Head of Project Management Office. Absolutely love it.

monkey42 · 12/11/2024 20:33

NHS consultant here, won’t say what specialty as too identifiable, but I love my job nearly every day. The ‘junior’ docs, students, the wider team (physios, nurses etc) and most importantly the patients are usually delightful. One colleague likened our job to crack cocaine. It gives such a buzz..

Mumofyellows · 12/11/2024 20:34

Teach in a SEND school. Love my job.

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 12/11/2024 20:37

I'm retired now but I used to have my own tiny business designing websites. I've been a writer in various settings for decades so web work was a natural progression, with added creativity. I loved it. Brilliant job for a lone parent too as I could choose my hours.

Fromage42 · 12/11/2024 20:40

I’m a Cheesemonger, so many people in my industry are on ‘second careers’

Avocadocream · 12/11/2024 20:45

General Manager within the NHS, very tough very often but I do love it.

tulipsunday · 12/11/2024 20:50

Dyslexia assessor - enjoy it and much prefer it to teaching whole class

MrsFlibbleisverycross · 12/11/2024 20:51

Primary School Teacher (early years). Love my job. The negative press about teaching is all true however, the actual teaching children part is the reason I love it and the reason I stay.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 12/11/2024 20:55

I am an emotional support worker on a NHS crisis phone line. It can be extremely stressful, but rewarding when someone really upset is laughing by the end of the call.

SuperBored · 12/11/2024 20:56

So nice to have a thread with teachers being positive about teaching ❤️

greengreyblue · 12/11/2024 20:57

I think teachers love to teach. It’s all the other guff that brings them down.

MinesABluePlatePlease · 12/11/2024 20:59

I work for a disability charity. A small very dedicated team who hold onto the values that are being eroded by the statutory services. Hands on, doing really practical work that makes people's lives better. If you can afford to live on a lower salary than the corporate world, there's much more to life than money. And you'll see another side of life.

TwinklyAmberOrca · 12/11/2024 21:00

I teach in a secondary school and love my job.

Planner. Big strategic stuff and evidencing and writing planning policy for 30+ year visions.

Interesting, I'm also a planner but private sector, designing the big strategic stuff and getting planning consents for large urban extensions 👍

Great career either side of the coin.
