Just idly pondering this as I make bacon sandwiches for lunch for everyone.

DH made me a fish finger sandwich the other day but with bread and it just felt wrong for some reason

Fish finger and bacon sandwiches should both be made with sliced white bread and butter.

The only sandwich that should be ever made with toast is a sausage sandwich. With butter and ketchup.

Anything else is wrong!

Brandnewskytohangyourstarsupon · 10/11/2024 15:10

Stop it. Stop with the crazy talk.

Its bread for a fishfinger butty. .

What are you thinking? Are you ok?

Hellisemptyallthdevilsarehere · 10/11/2024 15:10

Bacon on toast. With beans.

Other way around. Every time.

This

Maddy70 · 10/11/2024 15:27

No both with bread but i can tolerate toast with bacon

NerdWhoEatsMedlar · 10/11/2024 15:33

Fishfinger sandwiches have white bread, plus mayo and gherkins.
Or Fishfingers in a white roll with mushy peas, this one is niche.
If you can't cope with white bread, have your fishfingers with veggie curry, then you can add toast on the side.

MauveLeader · 10/11/2024 15:57

Fishfingers need salad cream and I say that as a complete mayo addict.

mitogoshigg · 10/11/2024 16:01

You need toast for a bacon sandwich and warm ciabatta for fishfingers in my house

mitogoshigg · 10/11/2024 16:03

@MauveLeader

No no, you need tartare sauce, ideally homemade (which is easy) but we rarely have fish fingers so no big deal

twentysevendresses · 10/11/2024 16:40

Toasted fish finger sandwich??? Are you quite well OP 😂😂

Bacon...bread OR toast can be used, as bacon is a versatile beast and can be eaten at any time! Toast is commonly served with The Great British Breakfast...ergo a toasted bacon sandwich is fine 🤷‍♀️

Fishfingers..not a breakfast food by ANY stretch of the imagination!

Fishfingers, chips...and toast? Of course not!

Fishfingers, mash, peas (or beans)...with TOAST??? No!

See where this is going?? Is there any fishfingers meal combo where toast would naturally accompany it? 🤢

DeliciousApples · 10/11/2024 18:40

Have I stumbled into an alternate universe?

Toast.

With fish. Fingers or not that's wrong.

No no no no no no!

Latticewindow · 10/11/2024 18:52

I have never had a fish finger sandwich - just sounds gross to me - with bread or toast. I’d happily eat plain fish fingers with some ketchup to dunk them in though. Bacon sandwiches on the other hand are delicious with bread or toast.

mathanxiety · 10/11/2024 22:58

Agree, OP.

Fish finger sandwiches need buttered toast and a squirt of lemon juice.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/11/2024 23:02

You definitely need soft bread, bite through that to the crunchy breadcrumbs on the FF. The textures would be wrong if you used toast.

Bacon is probably better in soft bread too but it's ok toasted too I guess if your bread was a bit dry it might be better.

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 10/11/2024 23:08

It depends what kind of sandwich, a traditional fish finger is white bread, butter , ketchup, fish fingers, poncey is toasted sourdough, butter, lettuce, tartar sauce, fish fingers, squirt of lemon.

Bacon, the same the proper way is white bread, butter, crispy bacon, maybe ketchup but not always.
If I'm having mushrooms I'll toast because otherwise the bread disintegrates and a BLT can go either way but needs mayo

Funnywonder · 10/11/2024 23:14

You shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a kitchen if you make either of these sandwiches with toast🤣🤣

leia24 · 10/11/2024 23:14

Controversial opinion but toast actually has no place in the world of sandwiches. Ever.

paristotokyo · 10/11/2024 23:27

Oh I make mine with toast! With cream cheese spread, a layer of cheddar cheese, fish fingers, red onions with ketchup and mayo on top 😋

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 10/11/2024 23:34

Toast should be nowhere near a fish finger or bacon sandwich! I've never ever seen anyone have either with anything but bread.

ADHDGURL · 11/11/2024 00:03

Unless you are an absolute heathen! Fish finger sangwich is white plastic bread ALL Day long.... crispy fish fingers and toast?? As a poor student fish fingers sangwich was my main meal.. and as a matter of personal preference, Unless it's a cheese toastie no sangwich should be made with toast..toast is it's own tier, with butter/jam/peanut butter..
I will die on this hill. 🙈

Duckingella · 11/11/2024 01:41

Don't forget the ketchup for the fish finger sandwich;mmm buttered white bread, fish fingers and ketchup.

I have bacon, fish fingers, bread and ketchup in the house, that's my breakfast and lunch sorted now.

Willyoujustbequiet · 11/11/2024 01:46

doodleschnoodle · 10/11/2024 12:37

Neither should be made with toast!

Both should be bread.

Who on earth has toast?! In 40 plus years I've never heard of this and neither have the cafes around me.

PearTreeBoat · 11/11/2024 05:35

Fish finger butties only ever white bread with loads of ketchup.

Bacon butties however, if just bacon then white bread and brown sauce.

If you are going a little better and adding a fried egg, with or without a good slice of mature cheddar, then it must be white toast.

SharpOpalNewt · 11/11/2024 05:42

I prefer fish fingers with bread. Bacon on bread is good, but I like it best on a lightly toasted bagel. Oy vey!

SharpOpalNewt · 11/11/2024 05:46

If you are going a little better and adding a fried egg, with or without a good slice of mature cheddar, then it must be white toast.

Better still with fried egg and Maille hollandaise. I never have ketchup on anything except a hot dog (with mustard). Not while there are other condiments in the world.
