To want to chop off my unsightly nose

rallygally · 08/11/2024 18:49

This mole developed at the end of my nose about 10 years ago. I‘ve been to the doctor, they said it wasn’t cancerous. It got worse with each pregnancy (3). Growth hormones apparently. Doctor was very unsympathetic when I said it is destroying my confidence.

Has anyone had anything similar? Can it be removed without making my face look worse? From one side you can see how it distorts the shape of my nose.

I feel like it is all people see when they look at me.

It looks very cute and small to me.

Not really noticeable, but if I did notice it, it would only be to think “that’s a cute mole”.

NonPlayerCharacter · 08/11/2024 18:52

Just get it removed. Simple procedure.

TTPDTS · 08/11/2024 18:52

Honestly OP I had to look at each photo more than twice before I spotted what you were talking about - and that was me looking for it!

You might be able to speak to a dermatologist about having it removed? I did try about a face mole once but they told me removal would leave a crater - but my face mole is ginormous, yours being much smaller in comparison might be okay?

Aytr · 08/11/2024 18:53

Gosh, you can honestly barely see it. I know a friend who had the exact same issue though (same place, growing with pregnancy) and just got it removed privately. No issues as far as I'm aware.

username7891 · 08/11/2024 18:53

I honestly can't see what you mean. I had a friend who talked with her hand in front of her nose as she was so concerned about it. She eventually had an operation and I couldn't see any difference at all.

I don't see any problem with your nose, although I can se a bit of a mark like a freckle.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 08/11/2024 18:53

I had to zoom in to see it. You're almost certainly the only person focusing on it.

TandyhatesAmanda · 08/11/2024 18:54

Easy to remove surgically with minimal scarring. I would. But find a very good plastic surgeon rather than a dermatologist for aesthetics, if you opt for surgery you could also remove a little cartilage at the tip.

Hoardasurass · 08/11/2024 18:55

It's barely visible @rallygally I had to zoom in to see it and I was actively looking for it ie if I didn't know it was there and wasn't very close to you I wouldn't see it.
If it's causing you this much insecurity may I gently suggest that you speak to a psychiatrist

Comedycook · 08/11/2024 18:56

I was expecting something so much worse. It's really not half as bad as you were making it out.

However, if it's really bothering you, could you find out about getting it removed privately?

Theeternalrocksbeneath · 08/11/2024 18:57

OP, I voted that YANBU not because I think your mole looks bad, but because I completely understand how you feel.

i had a mole that sat on my top lip and I hated it. It was all I could see when I looked in a mirror and I never wore lipstick as I felt that any colour just made it stand out more. It sounds so irrational to anyone who’s not experienced it but all I could think about some days was the mole on my lip - no matter how nice I felt I otherwise looked, it was always there ruining things!

So I had it removed - this must be about 30 years ago? It was non cancerous but there was no problem at all with getting the procedure done. It took very little time and was so straightforward - and oh my gosh the difference it made to my confidence!

If this is what you want then keep asking your GP. It’s a procedure that can easily be done.

BangFlash · 08/11/2024 18:57

I had to look again to see what you were talking about. But if it bothers you you can change it. There is no reward for putting up with something you could change.

caramac04 · 08/11/2024 18:59

It’s barely visible to me but I understand that you see it very differently. If it’s making you miserable could you get it removed privately?

Lonelyscarecrow · 08/11/2024 19:00

Don't want to invalidate your feelings about this but it really doesn't look noticeable at all - maybe it's just that I have an overactive imagination from what I was expecting from your description! But sorry it's affecting you so much anyway - seems like people here have some good information about how to get it removed - good luck, hope you can get it sorted soon.

IBlameTheDog · 08/11/2024 19:02

I had one lasered off my face. Hardly a mark there now!

Well done on giving her another “fault” to focus on.

OP there’s nothing wrong with your nose.

Welljust · 08/11/2024 19:06

It doesn’t look bad at all it’s very pale and only really slightly noticeable. I understand how you feel though. I have a bifid nose tip and honestly I look like I have a penis nose i absolutely hate it. Might get filler in it at some point as it looks disgusting

rallygally · 08/11/2024 19:06

I must admit these were not the responses I was anticipating! Maybe the pictures aren’t so clear. Or maybe it isn’t as prominent as I thought.

I know other people notice it. My 3 year old said I have a wart on the end of my nose like a gruffalo 🤦‍♀️ And my DF has also mentioned it.

I can't even see it, but please get it removed privately if that will make you happy.

Well that's incredibly rude. Not only did she not ask for opinions on the shape of her nose but there is also absolutely no need for her to have cartilage removed, her nose is perfectly normal looking.

Even if she did have a 'big' nose, she still wouldn't need surgery on it.

GoodVibesHere · 08/11/2024 19:14

I don't know if people on this thread are lying, because personally I can see it quite clearly. I mean, it's not awful looking or anything, but if it bothers you then you could pay to have it removed. It depends on whether you have the money, I guess.

Cheeesus · 08/11/2024 19:17

My husband commented at dinner the other night about his wonky nose. We looked, and it really is wonky. Slightly twisted round. In 19 years I haven’t noticed and nor have my children. I think people notice (or care about) these things much, much less than you expect. Your freckly friend is tiny.

Bignanna · 08/11/2024 19:18

Have you tried concealer? It looks flat so should work.

If I'd looked at several of the photos not knowing what to look for, I genuinely wouldn't have noticed it until I'd scrutinised them a bit. I wouldn't have noticed it at first glance.

stargazerlil · 08/11/2024 20:28

Ok I can’t see it, but you can use peels to get things off skin.
I am 59 & I started to get some weird old people things last year they call them keratosis and I used strong 30% TCA peel to remove one off the back of my hand now completely gone and one on my scalp which I am removing now, it’s a slow process but it is going. However you have to be really careful you only get the peel on the spot and make sure you do not get it anywhere near your eyes. You could also try wart remover which is salycitic acid you would have to do repeat and constant treatment you would have redness and soreness and peeling, these bastard skin things tend to fight for survival. Have a look on you tube you’ll probably find some beautician there who’s doing it. Good luck

I know right, looks like she’s got a good nose to me..
