Aside from the general WTF feeling brought about by today's election results, does anyone else wonder if we're heading for a blockbuster combining the plot lines of Independence Day, Terminator 2 and possibly a touch of Leave the World Behind? I'm actually starting to feel as though the plot has been completely lost, possibly sucked up by the White House Roomba. I'm only trying to laugh, because crying is too much effort and futile.

How Trump’s ‘new star’ Elon Musk stands to benefit from his presidency

There are already signs of a return on the Tesla chief’s political investment, and there could be more to come

What the world really needed was more old, rich white privileged white guys in charge… for a 2nd there it looked as if we were slowly moving towards a society where women had more of a voice, something approaching actual equality. But phew!
here we are with the egomaniacs firmly holding their places of power. Next stop, Mars! Let’s face it, the earth is fucked.

Coolasfeck · 07/11/2024 08:48

Yes they want pure chaos which will end in a war where they will hide away and emerge in control of everything. These are dangerous people. People there were warned.

Oh, Jesus. 🙄

What a lot of dystopian bollocks.

Agreed! I was kind of hoping Musk would set up his own "utopia" on Mars and take the Maga lot with him.

What a lot of dystopian bollocks.

So you don't think we should pay any mind to the world's richest man elbowing his way into potential office given his regressive attitudes towards women and anyone considered "other" by him and his ilk?

Interesting......

I think when posters fabricate a narrative of an engineered world war after which the elite emerge from a bunker to rule over a desolate world then it's firmly in the land of dystopian bollocks.

Just in case anyone thinks I'm making things up.

The bunker scenario is standard procedure for the ruling elite - always has been. As to engineered war, perhaps some reading around some of the far right evangelical views surrounding what is going on on the Middle East would give pause for thought. Or Trump's relationship with Putin.

I think there's little certainty of anything rational at the moment.

We can hope things will settle down of course.

Me and DH were just saying the other day that IF Trump got in at least he's pretty old and it will be the last time. (if he even gets through 4 years)

And then, because he must realise the same thing, we wondered if he was 'grooming' a replacement.

Then we said that due to his enormous ego we bet he probably wasn't/couldn't bring himself to.

We were wrong weren't we.
It's bloody Elon. In 4 years time he'll be running for POTUS.

Lord help us.

I’ve long thought this supposed exodus to Mars by the tech billionaires was an Ayran endeavour.

What the world needs is more anti-white racism from progressives 😂

I don't think thats what the poster meant at all.

What's anti white racism, @Thatsenoughcoffee ?

SnapdragonToadflax · 07/11/2024 09:33

Musk can't be President, he was born in South Africa. Thankfully. Obviously he can fund everything behind the scenes though. And I suppose Trump could change the law.

A depressing thought - he's not even old.

Except Musk was born in South Africa and can't run. Stop scaremongering.

Yes, they do not learn a thing. It doesn’t seem they are influencing many people either.

I've been wondering if Musk fixed the election for Trump, not by his money give-away shenanigans, but because he has a lot of high powered computing power and technical knowhow at his disposal. The money give-away being a smoke screen.

Tiedyesquad · 07/11/2024 09:32

What's anti white racism, @Thatsenoughcoffee ?

Racism against white people. It’s a defining feature of progressives. It even includes the believe that it’s not possible for them to be racist against white people. Isn’t that convenient!

Fortunately the American voters have just utterly rejected that ideology.

He funded a lot of door to door campaigning.

But having control of X obviously helped. The image generator Grok was given particular abilities to make Trump pictures which then spread virally.

Lots of people laughed at Musk for buying X but it’s paid off. Or as one person put it:

”Elon is such a dumbass. He spent $44 billion on Twitter and all he got was control of all 3 branches of the federal government.”

MoonriseKingdom · 07/11/2024 10:24

Isn’t this the plot of Fallout?!😁

There is a lot of things to worry about with Trump and Musk but this is not one of them. I strongly suspect they’ll fall out quickly like last time.

I’m left wing and would have voted for Harris. But honestly we do ourselves no favours with these types of conspiracy theories. Bernie Sanders recent comments about the left abandoning the working classes and why they lost, are where democrats need to focus their attention.
