Aside from the general WTF feeling brought about by today's election results, does anyone else wonder if we're heading for a blockbuster combining the plot lines of Independence Day, Terminator 2 and possibly a touch of Leave the World Behind? I'm actually starting to feel as though the plot has been completely lost, possibly sucked up by the White House Roomba. I'm only trying to laugh, because crying is too much effort and futile.

Lots of people laughed at Musk for buying X but it’s paid off. Or as one person put it:
”Elon is such a dumbass. He spent $44 billion on Twitter and all he got was control of all 3 branches of the federal government.”

I hadn't heard that one.

Do you think there's any truth in it, @Thatsenoughcoffee ? That owning X/Twitter gave him influence in the election?

Especially the poster who twigged the intended pun in the title - apparently the scent of Trump and Musk could be named Dystopia!

As for where this is all going, who knows. I have a bottle of cheap red, a warm cat, and so much dystopian Sci fi to choose from on streaming platforms, I'm spoiled for choice.

There are really, really serious concerns with worldwide implications that I can do very little about, and which make me sad and worried. Yes, it's unlikely to be sentient AI related, or nuclear Armageddon (hopefully). But if my gallows humour can carry me through and we can still discuss all the randomness of modern life, I'll take that for now.

Are we glossing over Biden being an old white man who was terrible on women's rights during his presidency, disowned his own grandchild and lost the election by hanging on too long when he was very clearly unwell? I'm no Trump fan but let's be honest, Biden was pretty rubbish.
