Trump is the bridge between billionaire America and hilly Billy America, and therein lies the secret of his “political comeback”

Sandygoldenbeaches · 06/11/2024 15:37

I don't know if you noticed.

But I remember what it was like the last time Trump was in power.

Men got much worse all round he world.

They got the idea that it was ok to bully, abuse and dominate women.

He brings out the abusive, cruel side in a lot of men

If you say so 🙄

Agreed sexism is becoming a bigger issue. I don’t know if it’s my age or my station as a single Mum but all of a sudden at 40 I’m bothered by it.

The disrespect of men seems more evident lately. I think Donald Trump just validates the idea that you can have a low view of women and the world will accept and vote you into the no. 1 job. Yeh for sure that’s validation for men that look down on women.

I am older than you. It got better for a while, I would say that the sweet spot was early 1990s just before the Spice Girls came out and got bad again in the mid naughties, then went downhill hugely the 2020s.

I voted for Trump by mail-in. Very concerned about my hometown being resettled with migrants and changing the character of my hometown.

A lot of British people feel the same way.

You have no evidence that Trump has, or propagates, a 'low view of women'. And no, being against full-term abortion does not constitute sexism.

Vanishingly few of his supporters believe that he is a sexist or an abuser of women, ergo he is not validating anything like this to them.

"You have no evidence that Trump has, or propagates, a 'low view of women'. And no, being against full-term abortion does not constitute sexism."

'I just grab'em by the pussy, I don't even ask'.

Referring to women as 'pigs' and 'dogs'.

Having unprotected sex with a porn star while his wife was at home caring for his newborn.

Being an adjudicated rapist.

Describing how he would go into the dressing room of Miss Teen USA and see all the young girls undressed.

Would you hire a teacher or a doctor who was known to do/say these things? No? Why? Because you'd see them as a danger to women and children.

What do you think that poster means by the term 'resettled'?

Yeah I'm just sat here under my rock waiting for your sources.

Out of interest, would you have voted for Barack Obama and/or Joe Biden?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/11/2024 17:19

World leaders who have no respect for women, like Trump, definitely influences male behaviour all round the world

If they perceive him that way then this is a fair point, @Sandygoldenbeaches, but I wouldn't want to assume that "If Kamala Harris had been voted in, respect for women would have increased all round the world"

Admittedly the US has never had a female leader, but in places which have I wouldn't say they've been automatically respected just because they're women - especially if they're the type not to show their faces after losing, not even to thank all who did so much to promote them

Yes we do have evidence that trump has a low opinion of women. Remember when trump siad that it was ok to grab women by the pussy.

When trump said that it's okay to grab women by the pussy, it made headlines around the world.

I remember men near me seeing the news headline and laughing about it. I remember one man saying "how exactly would you grab a woman by the pussy".

And the second man replied "hold the woman like a bowling ball, with one finger up her haha"

I heard that conversation

For anyone here who's interested in why misogyny is such a regular feature of fascist regimes - really recommend this book, it's fascinating.

Strongmen: How They Rise, Why They Succeed, How They Fall amzn.eu/d/f0t9RCO

Hitler, Mussolini, Gaddafi, Franco, Trump.

Sandygoldenbeaches · 06/11/2024 17:30

I learned a lot about the US in this election.

Thar they will let a convicted felon be president.

You might say Trump only falsified business documents and paid hush money during an election. That's what he has been convicted of so far.

But I remember living in a different country. At the time, the leader of that country was made to step down from his position , for taking a very small bribe from someone. He was found out and he was made to step down from his position

One sniff of criminal activity and he was made to step down as leader of that country.

Why is that not in place in the USA?

That fits why the UK went backwards, rape went up and misogyny got bad again in the mid naughties (adding in lots of ex USSR communists to the population) then went downhill hugely the 2020s (lots of single men's forced themselves upon us who originated from a male supremacy ideology).

Did you miss the recordings of him talking about grabbing women by the pussy?

Or maybe you think this an appropriate way for a president to talk about women?

He is a convicted rapist and sex offender.

He is considered by his former chief of staff, Mark Millet to be the "most dangerous person ever" and a "total fascist".

He severely abused his power by his relentless efforts to undermine the 2020 election and overturn legitimate results. He also spread disinformation about the voting process.

He invited a gathering of supporters to attack the US Capitol while electoral votes were being counted. He urged supporters to "fight like hell".

According to Michael Gerhardt, law professor at University of North Carolina, "Trump literally bullied people and spread disinformation on a scale never seen before".

He has normalised and spread extremism, hatred, racism and violence. He refuses to condemn white supremacists.

He has tried to manipulate the justice system to get off with felonies. He also attempted to undermine and obstruct the Mueller investigation.

He has been impeached for pressuring the Ukrainian government to help his re-election campaign.

... and don't forget his stories that immigrants were eating cats and dogs in Ohio 🤔

I could go on ....

And you are "pleased" he will now be president again? 🤷🥴

This is what makes Trump's win so hard to understand. The man is a convicted criminal, has spread so many lies, so much hatred, has been abusive, racist, misogynistic. All in front of the cameras. It's all there for everyone to see. I don't know why people are so happy to be represented by such a person. No statesman, that's for sure.

What kind of blithering idiot do you have to be to vote for a psychopathic, racist, bigoted, misogynistic, egotistical, crooked, lying, bullying, dangerous megalomaniac?

Because many people are as bad as he is

So they vote for a dark evil leader

I'm a bit confused about your statistics.

Rape statistics didn't shift much at all between 2001 and 2013.

What evidence are you referring to?

Rosie o'donnell was horrible about Trump.
If I relentlessly insult a man I can't play victim when he insults me back just because I'm a woman.
