Good experiences from conceiving in 30s?

Hiya!
DH and I held off on conceiving as we wanted to get our finances sorted before having children. We both had rough childhoods and wanted better for our kids than what we had.

It's definitely just anxiety but I've read horror stories of women having issues trying to conceive (I'm 30, will be 31 when TTC probably). Please would love some good stories to ease my mind? Have spoken to the doctor about coming off BC and have had blood tests done which she is happy with

Hi OP, I’m 34 and had unprotected sex in September, got a positive pregnancy test in October. I was shocked as I’m not exactly 21 anymore! We were using condoms before so I don’t know if BC would make a difference

good luck!

Cheshireicecream · 06/11/2024 05:50

you are 30 and 31 and out worry you left it too late? it's a completely normal age to start a family. Blood tests? who gets blood tests at 30 before TTC? Do you generally suffer from anxiety? Sorry I find this post very odd.

WarriorN · 06/11/2024 05:52

I was 36 and 41; pull be fine!

*You'll

I had my 3rd (and final) child at 31, got pregnant 2nd month. It’s a fairly normal age to get pregnant so I wouldn’t be overly worried.

Cavello · 06/11/2024 05:52

Had all 3 of my children in my 30s. Came off BC the day before my 30th birthday and conceived a year later, never went back kn BC, 46 now. It can take a year to get your fertility back in shape after birth control, so don't fret if you don't fall pregnant in the first few months.

Good luck 🍀

@Cheshireicecream I struggle with not being in control of things I suppose, something I'm working on. I've done some researching on TTC and have seen conceiving in 30s being referred to as geriatric 😳

Pregnant at 39, no issue at all. There are tons of threads on MN of women who get pregnant in their 40’s, 31 is no age at all! Don’t stress yourself out.

Yesitriedyoga · 06/11/2024 05:57

I had my son when I was 35, pregnant again and this baby will be born just before my 37th birthday. Both pregnancies have been really straightforward. I did have some miscarriages but they weren't to do with age, my progesterone levels were too low so just a case of supplementing them. I don't actually know many people who had children in their 20s to be honest so try not to worry too much 😊 good luck!

Tadpolecat · 06/11/2024 05:58

I concieved on our first cycle trying for our son. I was 30. Easy pregnancy and birth too.

No, don't worry about it.

Pregnant at 39 here!

Tophelleborine · 06/11/2024 06:02

Have you really never looked around you and seen how many women over 30 (and even over 40) have babies and young children? Sorry to be snarky, but it's really very very common.

InSpainTheRain · 06/11/2024 06:03

Your ages are completely normal for conceiving. I was 36, stopped contraception for 2 months and immediately fell pregnant with twins. Born healthy and no issues.

Sandandsea123 · 06/11/2024 06:09

You’re still babies!! Plenty of time! I’m 39 and my boyfriend is 45, our baby is due next week.

JaninaDuszejko · 06/11/2024 06:09

The average age to have a first child in the UK is 30. You are completely average. Just stop using contraception and enjoy having sex regularly throughout your cycle and see what happens.

Puddleclucks · 06/11/2024 06:11

I had my children at 35 and 38. Conceived first month both times, easy straightforward pregnancies and births, I don't think it could have been any easier if I was 21 honestly!

Hedgehogsaremything · 06/11/2024 06:13

31, 35 and 37 for me... No one can say how it will be for you but there's time.

BadLuck2023 · 06/11/2024 06:14

Thanks so much! Feeling better about it. Definitely keen to stop BC. I have the implanon in my arm so Definitely looking forward to that coming out

I barely know anyone of my generation who had kids earlier than 30! You'll be fine OP (or if you aren't fine, it would've been a struggle even if you started in your 20s).

Pippy2022 · 06/11/2024 06:27

I started at 34 and had last baby at 39. It didn't happen immediately each time. I spent alot of time with my legs up after doing the deed to help conception.

harrietm87 · 06/11/2024 06:33

Wow…I was 31 having dc1 and was the youngest in my NCT group by 7 years! DC1 is in year 2 and I’m the only one of his friends’ parents under 40 (I’m 37).

In my work/friend circles people tend to wait until mid-late 30s with up to early 40s very common.

No offence OP but you’re being ridiculous.

Applebumblebee · 06/11/2024 06:33

Hi OP, are you worried you won't get pregnant?

From what I researched, 20's to 30's aren't much different actually, so I left a bad marriage in my mid 30's, got accidentally pregnant at 35 - had an abortion - married later and a child.

She's the most beautiful baby in the world and no issues but she's only 6 months. It's now the average to reach 30 before having a child, I'd not worry it

Minihero · 06/11/2024 06:35

Most people have kids in their 30s nowadays and fertility issues can affect people at any age.

I conceived 3 times in my 30s.

Partridgewell · 06/11/2024 06:40

It's really common now to have babies in your 30s. I got pregnant by accident at 33.

Cappuccinowithonesugarplease · 06/11/2024 06:41

I conceived my 3rd at 35 after only one month of trying so you should be fine! It takes healthy couples up to one year to conceive.
