Good experiences from conceiving in 30s?

Hiya!
DH and I held off on conceiving as we wanted to get our finances sorted before having children. We both had rough childhoods and wanted better for our kids than what we had.

It's definitely just anxiety but I've read horror stories of women having issues trying to conceive (I'm 30, will be 31 when TTC probably). Please would love some good stories to ease my mind? Have spoken to the doctor about coming off BC and have had blood tests done which she is happy with

I conceived first try at 32 and 35. No issues. Good luck

I was 29 when I conceived the first time and 33 this time.
The first time it took 6 months to get pregnant but we think we were just missing my ovulation window because we got pregnant immediately we used tests to work out when I was ovulating.
This time we used ovulation tests again and got pregnant immediately.
Stressing will just make the process miserable, try to not overthink it.
30s pregnancy is definitely not geriatric, that term is very outdated - my mum was considered geriatric when she had my sister at 34 but that was years ago.
Many people conceive naturally in their 30s & beyond.

I had mine at 32, 40 and 42.

Make sure you are putting the maximum you can afford either into stocks and shares ISAs or into your pension. Or both.

What we've found is that we now have four children at university or higher education and we are stretched very thin. With the realisation that in my 50's my health isn't so good and my future earning capacity is affected.

I'd not have these issues if my children were born in my 20's as I'd have an extra decade of earning and energy.

Just make sure, if needed, you can stop working your mid 50's. When I was having babies in my 30's it never occurred to me.

May I ask your health? I've had one at 37 and would love another 2 but feel a little unhealthy.

My health was ok. I don't feel old yet (57)

barring any unknown fertility issues, you should be absolutely fine.

I was the wrong side of my 30s with partner 5 years older, came off hormonal BC and it took about 6 months. I avoided getting forensic with cycles to keep the pressure off so that, plus body adjusting after BC out was probably why it took that long (and it’s not long really!)

Good luck OP!

I conceived the first month at 42. You really don't have anything to worry about at your age.

Pineapplesandthegovernmentandpunkrock · 06/11/2024 18:13

Conceptions at 36 and 38 here, conceived straight away after unprotected sex and had very healthy pregnancies and babies. (I'm a bit of a health and fitness junkie, if that makes a difference).

Oops sorry an old thread.

lovehearts88 · 27/05/2025 13:00

There's usually no issue for most people getting pregnant in their 30's even early 40's. So unless you know either of you as prior issues then I wouldn't worry.

Heidi1976 · 27/05/2025 13:26

I came off the pill at 31 after being on it since a teen, it took one month for my cycle to re-establish (without spotting etc) and then I got pregnant. I also have stage 4 endometriosis. I was amazed to be honest.

Mandylovescandy · 27/05/2025 13:39

Got pregnant first time of trying three times from age 36 to 39. Am definitely average in terms of age at the school gate so I don't think your age will be a major factor
