Uggs

To me these just bring back memories of being ‘in’ 15 or so years ago, or in more recent years only being worn (a replica version) tucked into pyjama bottoms by people who find it acceptable to be in pyjamas outdoors.

My child has announced they are very much back in vogue and she would like some for Christmas. After I recoiled in horror, I thought I’d ask whether they actually are, and I’m just hideously outdated?

In case it’s not obvious, tongue is largely in cheek. But I do want to know whether they’re back in style!

Really, that makes me happy, I’m in a wheelchair and my feet get cold , I had some uggs which I got rid off and have missed them. Think I’ll have to go shopping.

personally I’m not over keen on them, but they do keep my feet warm, and were as I’m not exactly a trend setter I do like to look ok.

@sangriaandsunshine try emu. I’ve got feet like steaks and emus are a bit on the wide side for me while uggs are spot on.

I have two pairs of slimline Kirstin Ugg boots which I bought 5 years ago. They no longer produce them, probably because they weren't sloppy and don't look like traditional Uggs. They have lasted brilliantly with continuous use in the winter and yes, ibonly wear them outside and to work. The best buy I ever made. Would love to be able to find them again!

I’ve been stalking eBay for years to replace my busted Kirstin’s - they were also my best buy ever - must’ve walked 1000s of miles comfortably and warm in them and were smart enough for work!

I never stopped wearing uggs. CBA about trends, they're warm and feel like walking on clouds.

Kitkat1523 · 05/11/2024 20:37

I bought some Ugg Tasman last year ….really comfy….don’t wear them in the rain…..but wear them out loads ….and I’m 59!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 05/11/2024 20:38

I’ve got some but they aren’t the ‘traditional’ type. They’re dark brown leather calf height ones. DD has got some next style ones

Tasmans are definitely sleepers yo wear at home. Can’t believe adult’s wear them outside and to work; would forgive anyone under 12.

We all have original uggs boots purchased in Australia, but we just wear them at home as sleepers.

Just try separating me from my Bailey Bow Uggs. They're my favourite boots and so comfy. Half wish I had somewhere to go tonight so I could wear them, I don't wear mine round the house as I wear them outdoors most days in winter. I also have some minis but don't wear them as often as they're not as quick to slip on.

I wear the Tasmans out and about, wouldn’t have occurred to me that they could be slippers with the outside sole on them

These ARE slippers! 😆

I have ultra minis and tazmans as well as midis and some Chelsea wedge ones and slip ons

They're the most comfiest things I've ever worn.

I wear tazmans for work with an arch support in them all day every day and they're brilliant.

My husband also thinks I look like I'm wearing slippers out but I don't mind that Grin

But tasmans ARE slippers

oNly if you want them to be …..I think they look great with flares or wide leg pants

What are sleepers?

I have a pair I bought this year. Not remotely fashionable ones, but seeing as I feel the cold a lot more these days I thought I’d give my circulation a hand.

Next time I’m near the outlet I’ll be buying a pair of slippers.

downwindofyou · 05/11/2024 23:08

They've been in for a while so I suspect they'll be out after this winter.

I see lots of 12 year olds are asking for them. That's a good sign the 18 year olds won't be wearing them very very soon

oobedobe · 05/11/2024 23:34

Emu do their version of the Tasman and they are definitely for outdoor wear as they have an all weather sole.

I brought two pairs of Emu's recently the tasman dupe and their actual indoor slippers.

After doing a bit of research I think the quality is better than UGG which are no longer made in Australia and seem to use something called UggPlush now which I don't believe is 100% sheepskin.

Tasman Dupes

Emu Slippers

I know the teens all want UGG brand tho
