Hi, I cancelled my DD with team RH as my financial circumstances changed but I find him very threatening when I watched his videos. He wants proof of my financial changes. Also thought it would be a 1 to 1 coach support, but took days to get back to you.I am a 70 year old pensioner and unable to pay DD. Has anyone had further action taken against them besides threatening emails. Had 3 so far. Last one has given me just days to pay plus £25 late payment. Great full for any advice.

Are you still within the contracted period? If so it’s not as simple as just cancelling the direct debit, you will need to follow the cancellations process and you will most likely be liable to pay the full amount for the contract length you signed up for unfortunately

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 03/11/2024 11:00

I’m afraid your going to have to pay, when you signed up, you signed an agreement.

if your financial circumstances have changed then you can prove your change of circumstances.

Agix · 03/11/2024 11:04

The minimum contract is 12 months, just checked their website. You have to pay for the 12 months. You can't just cancel your DD - they'll likely send it to a debt collectors for the cost of 12 months if you don't discuss with them.

Same

How can we tell if OP is unreasonable or not

Renamed · 03/11/2024 11:23

No, read the thread linked, I certainly would not pay this.

JoannaGroats · 03/11/2024 12:04

Alsothought it would be a 1 to 1 coach support, but took days to get back to you.

This is what your argument should be. Can you proof that you were misled? To be blunt, your financial circumstances aren’t a service provider’s problem, but if they’re not providing the services they advertised, you have a case.

ItsMintUpNorth · 03/11/2024 12:29

I've seen a few similar threads on other forums (Reddit/tattle) and it seems nothing ever comes of the threats, I used to pay for it back in about 2015 but cancelled when he started becoming aggressive and rude.

What is team RH?

It's a guy called Richie Howey (I think that's his surname!) He has a group on Facebook (just look up Team RH) he does sort of diet plans, all about the calorie counting and weighing food, and I think fitness as well. Swearing a lot seems to be his forte!

Did you realise you've typed this into MN not Google?

herecomesautumn · 03/11/2024 13:16

@DreamW3aver What an unnecessarily rude post

Why should posters have to go and google when an OP, especially on AIBU, could give a bit of context. That's not an unreasonable ask.

If this had been posted in weight loss or something similar then you'd all know what she was taking about 🤷🏻‍♀️

Rude 😂are you new?

Why, when you can open a new browser window and find out in under a second would you expect someone else to answer for you and wait 2 hours for the answer?

If the PP genuinely wanted to know she'd have done that

It is more useful to get someone to say on the thread though, to save 100s of others looking it up too.

Well said!

herecomesautumn · 03/11/2024 13:27

@DreamW3aver No, I'm not "new"

Are you? You seem very defensive or perhaps you just don't understand Mumsnet

No biggie either way. The pp has been given an answer and now we all have been introduced to some weight loss thingy.

Still don't know if the OP is BU or not, though

VegTrug · 03/11/2024 13:34

@DreamW3aver Is there any need to be so rude?! I try not to Google things I may not be interested in as otherwise I end up getting bombarded with ads for the thing I've googled. Happy?

Sia8899 · 03/11/2024 13:43

I got confused in the OP as I thought DD meant your daughter, but you mean direct debit. You will need to properly cancel and I assume you’ll be charged a fee. Asking for proof of your financial status is intrusive but I would send it to make things easier.

My dad also cancels direct debits assuming that means the service will just stop. But nowadays that’s not how things work and you need to do tedious cancellation processes. Used to be much simpler

Your approach to googling has no effect on my level of happiness, it does seem a restriction to acquiring knowledge to me though

PrioritisePleasure24 · 03/11/2024 13:55

@Freyagillian you don’t actually sign into a credit agreement, he signs people up to an app and subscription service that they don’t actually provide properly.

Many have cancelled because they realised they aren’t getting what they paid for: the app is rubbish, the coaching is very much on their terms and they kick people out of the groups if you have constructive feedback or questions.

Please google Team RH cancellations or similar plus reddit/tattle/money saving expert have threads many have been threatened with legal action but to my knowledge no one ever has been taken to court.

You could have saved yourself precious seconds by not typing this.

herecomesautumn · 03/11/2024 14:06

@JoannaGroats But then we wouldn't have seen how superior the pp was.

Anyway I'm out. I thought this might have been a good AIBU and I was keen to know why Richard Hammond still had cheerleaders. Add in the cancelled DD and I was expecting family fallout fireworks

So now I know, I'll scroll on by 🤣

Foundanotherwrinkle · 03/11/2024 14:08

I've had dealings with him before and he's very aggressive and nasty. Not sure if it's changed as this was years ago but basically charged people for a service then told you to use myfitnesspal 🙄

Sillymamma · 06/07/2025 14:53

So has anyone ignored the threats and can confirm nothing came of it?!

Sillymamma · 06/07/2025 14:54

Hoping as it’s a while after the start of this original post someone may be able to confirm for me as I’m in this position! Thank you
