What are you doing with the extra hour tonight?

It’s that time of year again! The clocks are going back an hour at 2am, so we all get an “extra” hour tonight. Are you planning to make the most of it with a lie-in, or maybe use it productively?

Are you working, sleeping, catching up on something, or doing something you wouldn’t normally have time for?

Would love to hear everyone’s plans for the bonus time!

Just sleep.

PlayDadiFreyr · 26/10/2024 20:27

I took the Saturday get up with DS before DH noticed that Sunday would be the early one.

Cardboardeaux · 26/10/2024 20:27

An extra hour of CBeebies in the morning I expect!

Rain11 · 26/10/2024 20:28

Sleep

longtompot · 26/10/2024 20:28

Probably a lie in, depends on just how late our neighbours party goes on until. The music is so loud you can feel the bass and we are two houses away. Plus another neighbour a few streets away let off a load of fireworks and our poor cat keeps trying to find somewhere to hide.
The dogs current waking us up time is between 5 & 5.30am so I guess that'll be 4am tomorrow and for the next week or so 😭

YarkYark · 26/10/2024 20:29

Have an extra hour to look forward to seeing Squeeze on their 50th Anniversary tour in Southampton!!

troppibambini6 · 26/10/2024 20:30

@UnderOverUp yep same here but netball!

Imjustlikeyou · 26/10/2024 20:31

@Cvn omg I never thought of this! That is… awful!

emmetgirl · 26/10/2024 20:31

A little more time in bed in the morning!

Lostatsea10 · 26/10/2024 20:33

My perpetual early riser will be up at 3am instead of 4am. I dread this night most, every year. I spend the Saturday anxious about it and the Sunday even more tired than normal in the never ending day.

StripyHorse · 26/10/2024 20:34

We're taking DD1 to a university open day. The extra hour will make the early get up more bearable, but we will still be up earlier than I would like for a Sunday morning.

Kingofthetyrantlizards · 26/10/2024 20:34

Hopefully, sleep.... but it depends on if putting DD to bed later than usual works, if not probably playing trains 😆

noctilucentcloud · 26/10/2024 20:35

Every year I think I'll use it as an opportunity to start getting up an hour earlier and every year when my alarm goes off I roll over and go back to sleep!

Zukki · 26/10/2024 20:37

I have an extra hour of on call with no extra money.

Icanttakethisanymore · 26/10/2024 20:38

I have a baby and a toddler, no spare hour for me. Just being woken up at 4am (ie old 5am, which us when my baby is reliably insisting we get up at the moment).

Heatherbell1978 · 26/10/2024 20:38

I'll go to bed at my normal time but be woken at 5am rather than 6am by DS😬

decorativecushions · 26/10/2024 20:39

An hour more to sit awake feeding and soothing my 5 month old back to sleep whilst DH snoozes blissfully 😂😂😂😂

Mummaspud · 26/10/2024 20:39

My mum is staying to get up with the kids so I’m genuinely having a lie in with the extra hour

TheNoodlesIncident · 26/10/2024 20:40

I'll want to sleep through it but like a PP, I have a cat who knows what time it is, so I imagine she'll be tapping me with her paw and miaowing at her usual time. Fortunately if I stroke her then roll over she'll realise it's one of those times we ignore the alarms and just lie down on someone's legs so they're trapped until she deigns to move.

You lucky thing.

I'd love to see them.

Instead ill be feeding my baby ad infinitum 😂😂 as the sun rises. What even is time anymore?

FragileIsAsFragileDoes · 26/10/2024 20:42

Lying in bed wide awake wishing I was sleeping off half a bottle of a lovely NZ white I have enjoyed in anticipation of an extra hour in bed

TobiasForgesContactLense · 26/10/2024 20:42

Cat will wake me up at 3am instead of 4am. DS will wake up at 6am instead of 7am. It does mean that DH gets a 25 hour long birthday though!

Nodlikeyouwerelistening · 26/10/2024 20:44

I have young kids. So that’s an extra hour of parenting, just from 4am instead of 5am. Can’t wait 😂

Cvn · 26/10/2024 20:20

Thanking the Lord that I no longer work night shifts and don't have to face the soul destroying prospect of being halfway through the shift and watching time go backwards an hour, knowing I'm working that hour for free 😭

I’m luckily on days this weekend but feel for my colleagues who are on tonight! We have a large team so thankfully it only comes round every few years for me!
I’ll enjoy getting an hour extra in bed before my shift tomorrow.

NailsHairNipsHeels · 26/10/2024 20:47

Working...I'm nightshift so it's going to feel like the never ending shift
