I've just read a report that there were around 15k "Patriots" (or as i would say, far right protestors) and 25k to 30k antiracism protesters. Again, I don't know how accurate these figures are but I thought everyone would like to know.

I've now heard there were about 300,000 anti racism and 100,000 far right protesters. I thought the other figures were too low.

But there has to be a suspicion. I was replying to the poster who asked previously whether if she was stopped for no reason and asked to hand over her phone whether she’d be charged under the terrorism act.

I was stopped in Newcastle in 2021, coming from that hotbed of drug dealing, organised crime and terrorism; Norway. I asked why and they said I was suspicious. Personally, I think that they were bored, but the explained that it was under the PoT Act, so I handed it over and got it back in10 minutes.

I didn't say it was. I just reported the facts, unwelcome as they are in Yaxley-Lennon land.

You must surely be able to see the law is not being applied appropriately then? Forget Yaxley Lennon. Those same anti terrorism laws could just as easily be applied inappropriately against you for something that isn’t an act of terrorism. Worry about that.

I did back in 2009 when the law was introduced, than you very much.

And laws being applied inappropriately is a tale as old as time. Which makes peoples sudden concern for one particular case rather unimpressive, if not in bad faith.

I do! But as I pointed out, they go for lefties, as well. Just because they use the act and may prosecute for breaching it, it doesn't follow that a person is necessarily a terrorist.

About 20 years ago, councils were carrying out surveillance on people and using the Act to compile evidence for the Police. For things like having a dummy address, to get their kids into better schools.

Lennon is conspiring with rightwing groups from the USA and Europe, along with rightwing Sikhs to Foster hatred on the streets of Britain.

That's the evidence they are looking for.

It’s not ‘an act of terrorism’ in the way I believe you are thinking (so a marauding terrorist attack for example) to refuse to give the phone over with the PIN… he was stopped and requested to do so, under powers provided by the Terrorism Act, he refused so committed an offence under that act, but the incident in question wasn’t an ‘act of terrorism’ In the traditional sense

@Locutus2000

"I'm no fan of Kaba, but would point out the armed officer who killed him didn't know any of that at the time"

But the armed officer did know that the vehicle stopped was involved in the nightclub shooting six days earlier and it would be a fair assumption that whoever was involved in the shooting could be in the vehicle (as was the case) which is why armed police stopped the car.

Yes, I know; but my point was that they can stop anyone for no reason. All they have to do is say the magic word "suspicion."

No they can't. (Well they can and do, but you can find plenty of no win no fee lawyers who'll take them to court) They have to have articulable suspicion.

In Yaxley-lennon's case, they do. Plus, he's been remanded for a previous offense anyway.

Tommy Robinson (real name Stephen Yaxley Lennon!) is LITERALLY Hitler.

I am shaking right now, I tell you.

You shake far to easily.
Get a grip.

Yes there are reasons such as being a student or sick or being a carer that makes someone economically inactive, with sickness at 2.8 million being the biggest.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-68639144.amp

But for every person that is economically inactive and receiving support from the state then someone else in employment has to pay taxes to support that person as well as other functions of the state (NHS, education, state pensions interest on debt etc).

Also long term sick and economically inactive are interlinked- if you become economically inactive then your health problems will get worse.

Rather than just importing labour through migration to fix this, I personally would prefer to incentivise the economically inactive back into the workforce and not to "just give up on" or "right them off". It would be better for their health, generate more tax revenue and reduce state spending.

It also says in the article:

Responding to the report, Shazia Ejaz at the Recruitment and Employment Federation (REC), which represents the recruitment industry, said long NHS waiting lists "are a big factor for why not enough people are well enough to work".

She added: "Better infrastructure around transport, childcare and social care will all help tackle the inactivity challenge the UK faces".

The government need to invest in vital services so that people can work. The NHS is fighting fires and people are reaching a point of crisis before their health issues are dealt with. Mental health support is virtually non existent.

We have some of the most expensive childcare in Europe and bus services have been cut. Getting people back to work means investment, it's not a simple issue.

I am stunned by how many people who (probably) claim to be intelligent, are unable to rationaise that mainstream media is spoon fed and is not the full story or even the tip of the iceberg

Shocked at how many sheep there are

YABU

Hes not a thug, hes a brave patrio willing to call out the government's BS. The fact he continues to speak up about the issues blighting our country that the mainstream media keep denying, even in the face of censorship and being arrested, is extremely commendable

I absolutely despise Tommy Robinson, Laurence Fox and all that crowd. And I do listen to what they say. That's why I despise them.
I'd love Tommy to get what he deserves but I do fear him being seen as more of a martyr than he already is. Can't help feeling he handed himself in on the eve of his big demo to rile up his supporters tomorrow.

I think the arrest or whatever is planned so he misses the march but has riled up the followers enough to spread the hate.

The man is vile.

Nah having a difference of opinion is not being funny.
But before you judge, maybe watch the documentary LAWFARE: A Totalitarian State

He may have an aggressive exterior but hes a very intelligent, wise and perceptive man who makes some very enlightening points on the worrying state of our country
