If the UK is made to pay reparations where will that leave other nations who were or indeed still are involved in slavery?

You can say cunt as often as you like here.

Hunglikeapolevaulter · 26/10/2024 21:15

What I did say Is that taxes on individuals wouldn't increase, in the event of reparations

Either taxes on individuals will increase, or more services will be cut, or national debt will increase.
None of which are options the average voter will welcome.

For all those who don't wish to entertain the conversation of reparations how do you feel about the fact that up until 2015 British taxpayers were repaying a £17 billion debt to the work bank for compensation paid to slave owners & traders in compensation for loss of profits. Nothing was paid to the actual former slaves or the countries they came from....

I think we were also paying the Americans for bailing us out in WW2.

I'm sorry, you think income tax is the only tax to come from the people that funds government? Maaatteee

Youre twisting my words yet again

You can't even spell British.!

And you said that 'it's' is incorrect in English language!

And you call people cunts

Unrulyrabbit · 26/10/2024 21:15

Cunt, cunt, cunt, cunt, cunt.. yes, seems to work

Yes, it's a good Anglo-Saxon word that we acquired after being invaded by the Germans that was only cast with the shame stick by the sensitive Normans who invaded us later. But, yes, cunt works for me.

In parts of Scotland cunt is a term of endearment

Yes they would take money from somewhere.

I don't see reparations happening.

But I think that Keir may give an apology

The person you are responding to didn't even know that taxpayers fund the government several pages ago.

Yup, it's when they call you pal you need to make a swift exit.

She didn't use it as an endearment. So that's not relevant.

She said "you're being a cunt" and then she went on to insult me more

Wasn't this already covered somewhere in the middle of the thread?

You'll probably need to sift through a volume of hippos and guinea pigs to find it.

It's all about tone of voice with both pals and cunts.

😜

It's Saturday night mate, I'm a couple drinks in.

I'm very British and have origins in the caves of Castleton. My ancestors were too busy making rope and tanning leather to oppress these current leaders, sorry to burst your bubble.

All Lies.

I wouldn't trust this poster as telling the truth about me.

She called me a cunt. Now she's making up lies about me.

Hopefully other people see her for what she is

They'll just keep repeating that 'keir might give an apology' and similar without expounding as though that means sod all.

sofiamofia · 26/10/2024 21:19

how they still suffer from what the UK did to them in the past?

This is the problem with the people that can't accept the UK's past. What kind of question is that? Should a rape victim be forced to prove how they still suffer from the effects of the rape before the rapist is held accountable? Is the act of rape not enough to justify him being held to account?

The question shouldn't be how those countries still suffer due to the UK's colonialism.

It is how much better off, financially and culturally, would they be if the UK had stayed the fuck at home?

Sorry, what did she call
you again?

I don’t think you’ve mentioned it until now, or maybe I’ve missed it?

But I think that Keir may give an apology

Going back to what I asked before on this... Why is this something which matters? What does it mean? What difference does it make?

Maybe the next day he can apologise to the north of England and Wales and Scotland for the poor conditions down the mines and inherited health issues? Maybe the next day he could apologise to people in Kherson and Sevastopol for destroying their cities in the Crimean War? They should definitely give back those bells they nicked which they rang for the death of the monarch - they're spoils of war, they are. Since Sevastopol is currently under Russian control, I'm sure Putin would appreciate it.

It is how much better off, financially and culturally, would they be if the UK had stayed the fuck at home?

It's a bit more complex than that. Most of the population of the Caribbean wouldn't be living there at all if not for the Atlantic slave trade. So it's almost impossible to determine who would or wouldn't be better off.

Ah someone half way normal.

That's a well written post.
