Hotel Biscuits

AIBU to think that the availability and standard of hotel room biscuits has declined significantly?

There was once a time when you could at the very least rely on a solid, standard biscuit, like a bourbon or a custard cream. Now you’re lucky if you get any at all.

More expensive places used to give you a home baked cookie in a fancy bag tied with a bow. Now you get bought in standard conference room biscuits at best.

Big up to the Premier Inn though - their premium rooms had Green & Blacks chocolate last time I stayed.

Maybe I need to get over this shit.

AIBU?

We stayed at a Premier Inn Plus room last night. Green and Blacks chocolate was on the drinks tray. It felt like a real treat. And yes, I DO need to get out more 🙆🏻‍♀️

Not really necessary. OP is on a chat forum so can post about whatever they want.

I remember the Radisson Blu in Glasgow City Centre had Tunnock's Caramel Wafers in the rooms when I stayed there for work about ten years ago. I still think about it now 😊

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 19/10/2024 00:26

I expect it costs them little but has the capacity to buy goodwill and brand loyalty.

Blarn · 19/10/2024 00:28

I've always liked shortbread fingers as the biscuit. The last Park Plaza I was in was biscuit free but they did have hot chocolate so that was OK, I appreciate the hot chocolate sachets.

I stayed in a Travelodge for the first time ever a couple of weeks ago. There were no biscuits but the bathroom also smelt faintly of piss...

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 19/10/2024 00:32

I don't stay in hotels often but when I do they seem to be some kind of upmarket oaty thing with chocolate chips in. I would be very disappointed if there were no biscuits at all!

shellyleppard · 19/10/2024 00:33

@Blarn Travelodge are a bit basic. Lady time I stayed in one there were pubes on the shower wall 🤢🤢

Not a good choice to dunk in your tea

I know - these little things make a difference to people.

First it was our little bottles of half decent toiletries, not our biscuits. What’s next? Premier Inn have started making you collect your own tea and milk from reception- hotels better not be thinking of getting rid of these!

Friendofdennis · 19/10/2024 00:47

Morgan’s Hotel in Swansea has Welsh cakes, chocolates and other goodies in the room The toiletries are Molton Brown

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 19/10/2024 00:47

The Talbot by any chance?

Toomanyemails · 19/10/2024 00:51

Absolutely agree. You sometimes get some good local treats at independent B&Bs!

Yes! 😃

My favourite cosy b&b on the west coast of Scotland has a wonderful hospitality tray in the rooms with home made shortbread, and coffee pod machines with pods 😊, and home made scones by request

BobbyBiscuits · 19/10/2024 01:04

I don't think I've ever noticed any biscuits in a hotel! Lol. I guess I'm pretty low budget and don't travel much bar backpacking in my 20s.
Custard creams and bourbons are evil though!
You want biscoff. Or if you're getting really posh those ridiculously hard but really tasty biscotti with pistachios in them.

I had to book it for work. I always travel with my own biscuits though, being biscuitless in a hotel is terrible.

The bed was exceedingly comfortable though, that was a nice surprise!

RogueFemale · 19/10/2024 01:21

I run an Airbnb, and have thought about providing biscuits, (those lovely www.islandbakery.scot/ ones) but then was worried about people with allergies to nuts. I sometimes put a [glass] bottle of local mineral water in the fridge, as a lot of guests are American, but some don't drink carbonated water. I now leave still water, if I do at all...

I am a regular Premier Inn user but haven't booked the Plus rooms to date. This information may change that!

I'm tempted by Doubletree who put warm cookies in the room, I've read.
