And why?

I've never been a collector, have moved over a hundred times and have no emotions towards physical things but I always think it would be nice to collect something, it must be satisfying finding something for your collection or saving up to get something etc

Victorian Whitby Jet jewellery. Mourning pieces in particular. Bonus points if they contain hair.

Forgot to quote @MyEarringsAreGreen about the pens.

Mine are purple. I changed it in case it was identifying but obviously not, there's lots of us 😂😂😂

Rocks. I love rocks😊

I still have some of the first rocks I found as a small child. Beautiful ones from around the world.

We have little piles of rocks all over that house collected by me and the children. I love it.

My DD has rock collections. She did Geology A level and is now doing an Earth Science degree.

I am currently having to do a major sort out of her room (dealing with a damp issue). Her other collections are: candles (mainly used ones), empty body sprays, Galaxy chocolate wrappers and ring pulls. Thankfully we got through the loo roll collection phase.

(She's not ND btw)

Vintage and antique cookery books. I love it when I find someone’s old handwritten recipes in the pages. I also collect rocks and stones from places I have been since childhood.

whoputallofthatthere · 14/10/2024 20:13

Teddy bears. Have had to slow down acquiring new ones recently though because I have no room left. I've collected since I was a kid (which was a long time ago!) No idea why really, I just love them, they make me smile when I look at them.

evilharpy · 14/10/2024 20:15

Tarot cards. I don't really read them, I just like the art.

Also records although I'm quite restrained as I don't have space for many more in my Kallax unit.

SallySunrise · 14/10/2024 20:17

I like fancy teacups & teapots. I tell myself they're useful!

TashaTudor · 14/10/2024 21:28

I love all of your collections! I am also a collectors of dust lol
My children love rocks and stones, my son is getting a rock tumbler for Christmas and when we go on walks he will sit for hours digging out a giant rock - we then have to collect other rocks to fill in the hole!

Boxes. Love them! I have no idea why.

I get so excited when I see a good box and let my mind run wild with what I could use it for.

CrushOnEminem · 14/10/2024 21:57

Books. I have hundreds & hundreds of them. I am currently collecting books relating to & about one particular author - it's somewhat of a niche obsession.

I also collect small antiques from a particular broad era & from cities we visit - for instance a small 19th century magnifying glass from a Paris flea market etc

Old family photographs

Jewellery - but I am v particular

Perfume - I have about 30 bottles. I love unusual expensive perfume!

Art - we only have original art hanging up

I bet your home is a treasure trove! I do love books and have a few first editions but I lack space, I'd love to have my own little library

Oh no. They are from a local ceramics business (Black Star)

But I aim to go to York to the Ghost Merchants 👻

I saw the black star ceramics in a shop once, I've coveted one ever since. I also like the York ghosts, but not enough to queue for an hour outside the shop. That I don't get.

RobinEllacotStrike · 14/10/2024 22:06

I have an amazing collection of random stuff I like. 👍🏽

QwestSprout · 14/10/2024 22:06

Many things, I think it's part and parcel of having special interests.
My most recent large collection is merchandise from the video game Fall Guys. Beans everywhere!

Scutterbug · 14/10/2024 22:08

Emma bridgewater pottery.

CrushOnEminem · 14/10/2024 22:08

@TashaTudor Thanks! I do love being surrounded by nice things but I like it ordered too. I'm a sort of maximalist by nature. I love velvet sofas & beautiful fabrics & cushions etc.

I could never be a minimalist! Looking at my things brings me enormous pleasure & I love the memories attached to various pieces.

Your books are your collection & you should 100% create a little library in your house. And get the perfect armchair & little table & a lovely lamp & you'll have the most perfect spot

Londonrach1 · 14/10/2024 22:09

I do a lot of crafts but come to conclusion recently that I collect a lot of items I plan to craft with but never do. ..

Yarn. Not on purpose, I'm meant to buy it to make specific things but it's so pretty and squishy it's definitely become a collection 💖

Same here! I also spin, so I make my own yarn and therefore have even less need to actually buy any!

SallyWD · 14/10/2024 22:12

Only fridge magnets

username3678 · 14/10/2024 22:13

I collect orange and white first edition Penguin books of classics.

AutumnLeaves24 · 14/10/2024 22:17

Dust, dishes, paperwork.

That sounds so lovely! This house is the longest I've been anywhere (2.5 years) and I want to stay here so I might try and figure out how to make a mini library, I'm guessing kicking the kids out isn't an option though lol

Glass orbs, from charity shops. Hang all of them up across the top of windows. Also, vintage costume jewellery, and worked stone tools when walking.

Weverunoutofteabags · 14/10/2024 22:23

Uranium glass & carved crystal ornaments
