Pizza Hut Buffet

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 17:46

Posting here to hopefully get some quick answers.

So I will be going to Pizza Hut for the buffet, at the weekend with my child for one of her friend's parties.
There's a few of us going, and I've had a look online and at weekends it is 15.99 per adult and 10.99 for children !
I am absolutely not going to eat 15.99 worth of pizza! And I doubt my child will eat £11 worth.
Would I be unreasonable to just pay for my child and maybe have a slice of pizza or 2?
I know they charge different per head to stop this. But how do they police this ??
It's not a huge deal, but I would definitely like to know before I go, and like to know if other people do this or not ?
Thanks !

' why are people so uptight '

Says the woman who won't pay for a couple of slices of pizza.....

usernother · 14/10/2024 18:48

If you can afford it, just pay the £15.99. If you don't finish your pizza ask to take the leftovers home in a pizza box.

But I have paid. If you want to get political. It's paid for. By ME. I'm not making a 5 year old pay for herself and scrounging off of her plate.
Forgive me for being naive and thinking this wouldn't be a problem.
It appears I was incredibly wrong, and have now started pizzagate #2

You have paid for your child to eat the buffet, not yourself. There's a reason there's a price for adults and children or everyone would do what you're suggesting.

You also risk embarrassing your daughter, especially if you get pulled up for it.

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 18:49

@AllHisCaterpillarFriends I mean I probably wouldn't commit grand theft auto..? That's a a bit too far I think. Maybe if the taxis were too expensive though I would. That's fair game right ?

Pizza Hut pizza is horrendous anyway. If it's a friends party, aren't they providing food?

Agree, you don’t want to know how much fat they pour into the dish it cooks in. It comes out dripping Envy

@LittleMousewithcloggson I think you'd have a heart attack if I told you that I have scanned 2 cards as one in Tesco before 🫣

So you are a common thief then?

Justgoodforthegetting · 14/10/2024 18:43

It’s not my own personal definition, I wouldn’t be so arrogant.
But since you ask, the definition in law is to “dishonestly appropriate property, belonging to another, with the intention to permanently deprive the other of said property “

The OP would’ve paid for the pizza for her child, therefore no dishonesty here. At the point OP pays for the pizza for her child, it is effectively hers, if her child eats half of it she can either choose to eat the rest herself, put it in the bin, or wipe her arse with it if she so chooses.

Don’t you understand pay per person buffets?
She has not bought a pizza. She has paid for her daughter to eat as much pizza as her daughter can eat.
She has not paid for herself to eat any pizza. Therefore the definition of stealing is completely matched as the pizza she has taken is pizza huts and she has no intention of paying for it!

Spudthespanner · 14/10/2024 18:40

@AllHisCaterpillarFriends

That's stealing. You are a thief.

Where does it stop?

2 slices of pizza and a couple of cards at the self checkout? I'd say the only logical next step is selling hard drugs at the primary school gates.

@Spudthespanner hey, I'll be passing stolen slices of pizza out at the gates next week. Lemme know if you want one

I'd just eat something before I go and get myself a drink there.

makemeanoffericantrefuse · 14/10/2024 18:52

'But if OP eats a slice or two of her child's pizza I doubt she's doomed to eternal damnation for it.'

I agree.

But she would be having food she's not prepared to pay for and thats not ok.

(Still not embarrassed or tense by the way - just pointing out the facts)

We went to an all you can eat buffet at a local restaurant. A man and his gf told the waitress they would only pay for one person and they'd share, but when she said no they walked out in disgust!

Clearly too tight.
If you can't afford to pay what's asked then don't go.

vickylou78 · 14/10/2024 18:54

Just order something off the main menu for you to share with daughter instead of doing the buffet? Why are you overthinking this so much..

Ps. It would be stealing if you ate from the buffet.

Jiminyyyy · 14/10/2024 18:54

Can’t you just take the pizza you don’t eat home in a take away box? Pizza Hut do that all the time

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 18:55

@zeitweilig yes I'm a dirty scrounging theif. But only on Mumsnet

Tight, dishonest thief. I’m glad I’m not eating out with you tomorrow. I’d cringe myself inside out on your behalf. Ffs just pay your way like everyone else.

CoastalCalm · 14/10/2024 18:57

The last time we went it was dreadful to be honest the pizza has very minimal toppings and only basic pasta options on the buffet - I’d rather order from the menu if I had to go again

Differentstarts · 14/10/2024 18:57

You can either afford it or you can't. Why would you embarass your daughter infront of her friends over £15. It's irrelevant whether you think it's good value for money or not that's the price.

tillytoodles1 · 14/10/2024 18:57

zeitweilig · 14/10/2024 18:53

If you can't afford to pay what's asked then don't go.

That's what I thought too. Surely he'd have twice as much on his plate for her to share

WigglyVonWaggly · 14/10/2024 19:01

The buffet isn’t aimed at people who will ‘only eat a slice or two.’ If that’s all you’ll eat, have some of your daughter’s pizza from the main menu but don’t get her a buffet at the child’s price and expect to sneak your adult portion totally free - that’s obviously not reasonable!

Jiminyyyy · 14/10/2024 18:54

They indeed allowed me to do this with the buffet option, despite others saying it wasn't possible on here 🤷‍♀️

Rosscameasdoody · 14/10/2024 19:01

KittyPup · 14/10/2024 17:48

No you can’t pay for a child and then eat a few slices of their pizza. You clearly can’t afford to eat out. Don’t embarrass yourself as you’ll get caught out. Take them to McDonalds for a happy meal instead.

Christ. Catch yourself on.
