Wynn Evans and Katya Jones “hand incident”

What is everyone’s view on this? Have spoken to a couple of Strictly fans at work about the seemingly inappropriate touching of Katya by Wynne and am massively disappointed that many think it was harmless and the reaction is disproportionate.

Just sick of pervy men! He did it on camera! He only cared about getting a quick thrill

I’ve always thought the touchy feeliness is too much although I notice not all the couples do it. Vito and Sarah were ridiculous last night. He was cuddling her like he was consoling a baby. Karen and Paul were just standing side by side.

I can’t decide what to think about it as part of me wants to accept it as just his arms around her but I also found myself making an ugh face as it looked creepy. She did give him daggers when she turned around after the non-high five. It appeared like she was fed up of him messing around or maybe doesn’t like him at all.

On the other hand, she jumped all over him legs astride after they danced and she has said it was a joke and I feel like we should listen to her.

Gave up watching Strictly about 4 years ago, used to love it. Seems as if it is in its death throes now with all the scandals and controversies. I don't really know why I stopped watching it, guess it all got a bit samey. Everything has its day, maybe Strictly needs to end.

Yeah this. As someone said earlier, this is nothing more than bandwagon jumping, with masses of sheeple piling on to jab the knife in. (On here AND on the internet in general!)

I don't think we get to choose where she is comfortable having people put their hands. I think it's reasonable to calmly move someone's hand if you don't like where they are putting it. Maybe it was aggressive, I've only watching it once and thought she just moved it

I agree re all the dancers and their partners are touchy, feely. Most of the time it’s absolutely ok. I do remember a couple of years ago watching Kim Marsh and Grazio (whatever his name was) got through and they were sitting in the couch with Claudia and the others who had got through - Kim had her hand resting on his inner thigh really close to his groin. It was unreal and something intimate lovers might do but you don’t often sit like that in public let alone on TV.

It’s not only the hand around her waist, it’s the way he slid it across. My stomach turned watching the clip before I even saw her move it back. I think with some men, you just get the creepy vibe. She’s been working closely with him both on and off camera; it seems to me that this isn’t the first gross thing he’s done.

There’s also the clip of him going to high five her and her turning away and cutting her eye. Clearly there’s more going on than we see, despite any claims of “silly jokes”.

You might as well say " if his hand was 6 inches higher it would have been groping her boob". Which it wasn't.

Didn't Katya jump on him and hang off him round his neck and put her legs round him? Does anyone ask him if he's ok with that? Why does no one freak out over that but he moves his hand from the side of her tummy to the front of her tummy and it's the worst thing ever?

Katya is a very weird fish IMO, her boundaries are all over the place. I was amazed she was allowed back after she drunk snogged her dancing partner who was in a relationship -,not professional and if it had been a man I suspect he'd have been gone.

I thought the joke was the high five. The waist-touching is definitely not a joke and they're lying if they say it is. I'm not saying he did anything wrong per se but it's not funny either and definitely wasn't planned

I don’t know with this to be honest. Normal I would agree. And I’m not disagreeing. I’m just taking into consideration the fact that they’re dancing partners so ‘personal space’ is non existent and where as putting your hand there would normally be inappropriate, if you’ve been in that position day after day rehearsing … again I’m not sure on this one.

I really don't get the 'joke' explanation.

Why would anyone would make a 'joke' like this on a show that has had several claims of inappropriate behaviours made by previous contestants?

Wasn't the orignal premis , the idea that a famous person who was a novice dancer would learn? Famous. In the world of sport, media, acting.
Now we have aman who sings " Go Compare" and has issues with boudaries.

I must have watched something different from you. He moved his hand across her waist. She moved it back to her side. At no point in the bit I saw was his hand moving down anywhere.

Obviously ‘stroking his hand slowly down her abdomen’ sounds much more seedy than what I saw so I’d be interested to see if that was recorded.

The slow, sliding, wandering hand was obviously not a joke. Regardless of what other things they both willingly choose to do with their bodies, it's acceptable for Katya to remove his hand. Some of these comments are hugely disappointing.

SCD crosses all kinds of boundaries all the time- it sends mixed messages continually about what is appropriate. Women, and men, in costumes that can be very revealing, dance routines that can be very revealing in terms of splits and very short skirts, positions where legs end up on shoulders and around necks.
We often see, in rehearsals, professional dancers positioning their partners with their hands on their bodies. Katya jumped in the air with 'delight' at the end of one performance and threw her arms around his neck and wrapped her legs around his waist. Couples hug, cuddle and hold and nuzzle each other, whisper to each other, hold hands on the sofas and at the end of dance routines and as marks come in. The women jump on the men and are picked up and swung round. It is all over the top and fake.
I can't get worked up about the Wynne thing in particular but I am fed up with, on one hand, no one complaining about all if the above, or even people excusing it all, and, on the other, turning the Wynne thing into a huge drama and calling him a 'perv'.

Most of SCD reaction is false, done for effect and for the likes of the DM to whip up rumour from anyway.
