About a talking skeleton?

A house which is sort of a few doors down/across from me has put up Halloween decorations including a fucking noisy skeleton

I've taken parcels over before and they don't answer the door - how can I phrase a note nicely to take the thing down or switch it off?
It was going off all last night at 2, 3, 4am where it says a phrase and then does some creepy cackling laugh

I don't mind it through the day but I wondered WTF it was last night and went out at 2am to see

Wouldn’t want their electric bill. Hoping things stay quiet.

Just saying

My neighbour had a motion activated Santa last year, and he said 'ho ho ho, merry Christmas!' whenever anyone approached him. Unfortunately, his voice was also activated by the wind and hearing constant 'ho ho ho' from November onwards was so annoying. They were gently persuaded to deactivate him at night. When I say gently, I mean someone threatened to kidnap Santa and take him to the tip if they didn't turn him off in the evening.

So it's rained. And rained. We do live in a city named one of the wettest in previous years

The inflatable is listing to one side gently and I think the audio has gone on the skeleton totally
Shame

Resurrected as almost one year later, they are building their Halloween display. What hellish thing will appear this year?

Can’t wait 😂😂😂

Oh my god, I didn't realise this was a repost and have just come across the post about my very sweet Hallowe'en-loving 3yo who is now 4 and currently having an utterly exhausted screaming tantrum at DH because I asked him to intervene and turn off the Switch so they could eat dinner Grin

I can try to send him this year if you like. He is at a very trying age Hmm

TeaBiscuitsNaptime · 20/10/2025 16:15

You could ask if they could turn it off at night time. At least its something!

Darragon · 20/10/2025 16:16

Not sure if it counts as the OP resurrected it, but is this now a zombie about a skeleton? 🤣

murasaki · 20/10/2025 16:18

Over the road has one, but they do turn it off at night. I love it in a weird way, but if it were waking me up, we'd fall out for sure. I imagine it'll go up sometime this week.

murasaki · 20/10/2025 16:19

Theirs wears a pirate outfit. I'm rather fond of it on a daytime short term basis.

A Halloween zombie thread, how fitting!

Did the rain manage to kill the skeleton’s audio last year?

If they have repaired the skeleton, I will gladly take him!

It did, everything was sadly droopy
there’s a bubbling cauldron out so far and some spider webs in the tree. It’s due to rain hard this week so I’m wondering if they will hold off
or if I’ll get home shortly and come face to face with a scream mask in the pitch black

Well DS woke up last night ravenous so I took him downstairs for a midnight snack and then he kept pointing to random bits of the house and saying "Person!" and "I sawed a person riding a bike!!" if you weren't in the Hallowe'en spirit already.

I love a good "kids see things we don't" story.

When dd was about 2.5 she was in her cot, failing to have a nap, when she suddenly started waving at the mirror and saying "look mummy, a man, hello man!". She then looked round to where someone would be standing if they were being reflected in the mirror and kept saying "look mummy, a man! He's wearing pajamas, look mummy, a man in pajamas, hello man!". Then she sat down, looked at me, put on a serious face and said slowly "...but he doesn't sing". At which point I gave up on the nap and we went downstairs.

I don't believe in ghosts. But when it's 3am and I've woken up needing the loo, sometimes I think about the non singing man in pajamas and I have to put the light on...

Maybe he can see the future and they’re planning a Saw themed decor with the bike?

Grin

DH asked him about the "person" today and DS explained as though DH was a bit slow not to worry as it was only Daddy's coat and Mummy's scarf that looked like a man.

What a relief 😂
DD is 5 now, and I don't want to bring up pj man incase she runs with the idea. I'm going to have to wait until she's an adult to ask her about it 😁
