To ask for your top tips on how to get my house to smell like a spa hotel?!

Went for a browse around The White Company today and it smells so nice and cosy. Like a spa hotel!
However I cant afford to buy a collection of their candles and diffusers so looking for your alternatives to make my house have a similar vibe?

Buy essential oils from this shop on eBay. They’re great. Get some cheap oil burners or diffusers and place them around the house.

Get a diffuser and a few drops of these. Heaven.

Putyourshoesonnownownow · 13/10/2024 19:29

Not the rollerball ones! The essential oils...

potatosconelover · 13/10/2024 19:37

The M&S apothecary range is very spa like and much cheaper than White Company!

Gotosleep91 · 13/10/2024 19:43

I buy the Pecksniffs candles from Tkmaxx

Creakycroaky · 13/10/2024 19:55

Neom do an oil called Scent to Destress Real Luxury, which I think smells exactly like a lovely cosy spa room. The oil is about £25, but it’s really concentrated so you only need a few drops in a diffuser/mister and it lasts a long time. I’ve had a bottle for about a year and only just running low, so I think it’s pretty cost effective. Also in the bath; heaven!

Definitely this range!
This is what I wanted my new bathroom to be like and with this range (especially the spray) it smells like a nice spa!

George at Home (Asda) Ecowix candle in Cashmere.

Goballistic · 13/10/2024 20:09

Please don't do any of the above if you have pets they can be toxic

MrTwatchester · 13/10/2024 20:12

Don't get a fucking Labrador.

UmbrellaEllaEllaElla · 13/10/2024 20:13

Please be aware that these oils can be toxic to humans and animals despite how amazing they smell.

frogpigdonkey · 13/10/2024 20:31

Many top hotels have a signature scent- so whatever distributor you use I'd try and pick a dominant scent you like and theme around that rather than random candles etc

Is that if ingested or just using as intended? (Still getting my head around all the ways I can accidentally harm my dog!)

Yes exactly, it's not healthy to inhale these scents 24/7. be careful with what you buy, especially when it comes to synthetic products or candles containing phthalates for example.

MrBiscuits24 · 13/10/2024 20:35

I have been using Valentte diffusers. Good deals, staring scent and long lasting and I agree with a signature scent. So only use the same smell throughout the house. I use the lemongrass one and it’s lush.

Pootles34 · 13/10/2024 20:37

The white company oils are only £10 each op! this is the diffuser I have.

ditismooi · 13/10/2024 20:42

Bung some cinnamon sticks , orange slices cardamom , lime , lemon , fresh/ dried herbs in any combo that works for you . Boil them in a pan on the hob . House smells great in minutes !

Heresoneimadearlier · 13/10/2024 20:44

Even certain natural essential oils can be toxic for pets just breathing them in can make them ill, check the poisonous list online.

Laughed out loud at this. Huskeys, too.

Thehop · 13/10/2024 20:44

pils from a company calle valentte they really are amazing

leopardski · 13/10/2024 20:46

OP I haven’t actually taken the plunge yet so it’s not a personal recommendation but lots of people recommend this stuff to me. Non toxic, apparently fabulous. I’m hoping they might do a Black Friday flash offer or something!

This is a sneaky Purdy and Figg advert isn't it??!

The number of adverts on YouTube is ridiculous....no wonder it's so over-priced. But this one is free.

I was just about to say the same. I've got a reed defuser and it smells gorgeous.

Evaka · 13/10/2024 21:21

Muji do good candles and aroma diffusers. Also the M&S apothecary range!
