Only just got out of bed because I just couldn't get up this morning. Hung washing up and went back to bed. Feel horrific.

Not sure of your age, but this can sometimes be a precursor to heart attack. Can you measure your blood pressure somewhere?

VictoryOrDeath · 12/10/2024 12:34

I wondered about this too. Hope you're OK OP.

miniaturepixieonacid · 12/10/2024 12:37

It can also be a symptom of a panic attack, I think.

But yes, if you have physical symptoms as well as the anxiety/doom feeling, you should probably get checked out.

Hernamewaslola22 · 12/10/2024 12:38

Thanks, it's all just how I feel not physical.

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/10/2024 12:38

Agree, call 111, I think it’s recognised as a symptom.

It can still be a precursor to heart attack. I would try to check this out. Don’t mean to worry you

Better to get checked, esp if you live by yourself.

Shhhthedogssleeping · 12/10/2024 12:43

Do you have anxiety. Is something very stressful going on. If not, I agree it is recognised that a feeling of dread and doom can be a symptom of a cardiac event or sepsis. I agree with contacting 111 OP

mogtheexcellent · 12/10/2024 12:47

Did you watch Threads on BBC this week?

I did and I've had a sense of doom ever since.

Hernamewaslola22 · 12/10/2024 12:51

I had a crap day at work yesterday, felt awful yesterday evening. Have no plans this weekend as usual, house is a tip and I've got no motivation to do anything about it and I've got loads of decorating to do which I find so hard on my own because it's all up ladders and I just feel awful.

Felt awful how? Just tired? Or something else? Big hugs op

Seeline · 12/10/2024 12:52

Can also be symptom of sepsis. Have you got a fever or anything?

whitebreadjamsandwich · 12/10/2024 12:54

Yes, an impending sense of doom can be a sepsis symptom, especially if you're feeling physically rubbish too

I don't know about this being a threat of a heart attack.
I know about intense sweating and waking up
3-4 AM.
However, anxiety could be the culprit.
I'm 45, reasonably healthy and wake up every day with a racing heart and feeling nauseous. Had it for years.
The world doesn't help. 😐

MilkOnTheSide · 12/10/2024 12:58

How old are you? This was my first symptom of the perimenopause.

MilkOnTheSide · 12/10/2024 13:03

OP sorry I just searched your user name to see if you could be my age. But I see you are early thirties. And I saw lots of sad and hopeless posts from you. You started a similar one on 1/10. You sound isolated and a bit depressed.

What can you do to get out of this negative rut? What would help do you think?

Reading this I can’t help imagining how great it would be if we could all help each other out more. I suppose I’m thinking of a community but in actual fact today I have ignored a phone call from a lovely neighbour. Plus sent my daughter to deal with another person who came to see me at the door.
basically I’ve been up since 6. Had two meals in bed and cannot get up and deal with my life. I have to move house. Have no home to go to. Lots of people have been kind and brought boxes for me but I can’t motivate myself to pack.

yet when I read that you are alone with ladders and feeling low I think I’d love to help you out!

Are you menopausal? I often wake with this feeling of doom.

Nightowl1234 · 12/10/2024 13:12

Did you drink last night after a bad day? Often alcohol can worsen depression symptoms the following day

Sia8899 · 12/10/2024 13:18

If you aren’t either hungover or physically ill, which from your posts it sounds like not, you must be having a really hard time and I feel for you.
Maybe you could have a break today and have a chilled/pamper day with no guilt as you’ll be refreshed to tackle everything tomorrow.
Are you getting any help for your mental health? If not, would you be able to look for a local service and contact them on Monday?

showersandflowers · 12/10/2024 13:19

I get this when depression settles in.

Jabberwokie · 12/10/2024 13:22

It can be a sign of severe infection. I had an overwhelming sense of doom before I was diagnosed and hospitalised with Covid

Take the day for yourself and I hope you feel better about things tomorrow.
It might be that you're run down and mentally/physically need a break x
