Only just got out of bed because I just couldn't get up this morning. Hung washing up and went back to bed. Feel horrific.

I get an intense feeling of doom when I'm about to be ill, especially if it's Covid.

MargaretThursday · 12/10/2024 13:33

Usually means my period is coming in the next couple of days.

OP sorry I just searched your user name to see if you could be my age. But I see you are early thirties. And I saw lots of sad and hopeless posts from you. You started a similar one on 1/10. You sound isolated and a bit depressed.

What can you do to get out of this negative rut? What would help do you think?

I don't know what I could do. I am really isolated. I spend nearly all my time on my own if I'm not at work. I'm just miserable. Can't see the point in anything and this morning I couldn't see a point in getting up.
People asking about MH support, yes I see a counsellor every week and have had years of counselling and medication.

It's cortisol. Should settle down after an hour!

Movinghouseatlast · 12/10/2024 15:20

It was my first symptom of perimenopause.

If you can muster up the energy, get yourself outdoors for a walk.

Do you have a nice park, woodland etc nearby?

stop off at a shop and get yourself a coffee and a nice treat like some baked goods and go for a nice long walk.

try and really notice what’s around you. The noises of nature, watching the trees blowing in the wind, noticing the feel of the sun on your face.

I know it sounds corny but it can really help.

I get the 'impending doom' feeling if I'm brewing a UTI... so drinking lots of water might be a good idea anyway.

But bless you, if you've had a crap day, can you give yourself a day off today? A Mental Health Day! Just deliberately give yourself permission and get out for a walk somewhere nice and maybe buy yourself a fancy cake and a magazine. I know it can feel like bunking off if you've got a lot to do, but it's really worth it to pick up your mood and things will look brighter tomorrow! 🤗

Impending doom and dread and sadness and suspicion were a major part of my peri menopause. HRT was my saving move. It is possible to hit early menopause.

It can be a symptom of a urinary tract infection - toxins building up.

And yes, it can signify a number of other conditions.

Physical and mental health issues can massively impact your quality of life and relationships etc.

So first you need professional help and advice.

If there's something actually wrong, taking control and getting on with getting it fixed / managed can in itself make you feel better.

Pick up the phone 08.00 Monday and hang on for an appointment.

All the best.

Depression ? I've had bouts like that before it's just comes over me and I remember the first time I just remember thinking this is what depression feels like just this horrible feeling and weight I can't describe it , thankfully it never lasts longer than a day or two in my case .

liquidsquidli · 12/10/2024 16:50

I've had medication make me feel like this.

Are you taking anything?

JFDIYOLO · 13/10/2024 00:35

Yes, medication can do this. I had a reaction to Lariam, the anti malaria tablets and remember walking down the street crying at my partner because of a pair of boots.

sarahzbaker · 13/10/2024 00:48

Go to doctor. Now.

Can your GP refer you to social prescribing or a peer coach? Services which engage you in the community and help you get out. Medication and counselling can help but sometimes you need a professional to get you living in the world again. You are young and sound so hopeless and low. Please ask about services. Google your local MIND and see what they offer too.
