All the males in my house wander around in their pants.

I am getting tired of it, particularly now that my sons have hit puberty, so I have mandated that all human inhabitants must wear a minimum of shorts. We have no daughters so I am the lone voice here. The boys are complaining bitterly. Husband is neutral but says he understands my feelings.
AIBU 😂

Oh right. You said you didn't like wearing clothes, but you're obviously ok with some!

We have kids in the house, it wouldn’t be appropriate to be naked outside the usual in the shower etc

lololulu · 05/10/2024 16:31

My husband always strips of to his boxers.

I've always thought it strange.

He's just started wearing pj bottoms as dds are 12 and 14 and he's not working away as much.!

Gizlotsmum · 05/10/2024 16:32

My youngest is forever just in boxers. We have rules that he has to be dressed for food ( shorts/tshirt sufficient) and if we have visitors ( including extended family)

BobbyBiscuits · 05/10/2024 16:33

Grim. Lol.

I used to have this French gay lodger who constantly walked round in just his pants, and would have 'gentleman callers' (innocent seemingly straight blokes I think he was trying to 'turn') who he encouraged to also do the same.

One morning, hungover af, I reached the end of my rope when I entered my kitchen, to a strange Italian looking 20 yo man cooking a full, smelly, greasy fry up with my favourite frying pan. In his fucking calvins. Greying ones. 🤢

The lodger was asked to leave shortly afterwards.

So, you're in your bra and pants?

@Simonjt is male.

Right. I didn't know.

CardiffCassie · 05/10/2024 16:37

I don’t get the issue? They’re your husband and your sons, not some random stranger or house guest. Surely you’ve seen them in less than pants on many occasions. And they’re wearing pants so it’s not like they’re rubbing their bums all over the sofa.

FawnFrenchieMum · 05/10/2024 16:38

Not really any different to swimming trunks on the beach / round the pool but if your not ok then asking them to wear shorts isn’t unreasonable.

BiscuitlyBoyle · 05/10/2024 16:38

During the lockdowns I had to do weekly video calls to the children in my class, year 1. The number of boys who were sitting there in their pants was pretty high. The parents were often in not much more. I was usually in a jumper with a blanket on my knees. I wondered how hot all their houses must have been and how they could afford the bills!

AboutVattime · 05/10/2024 16:39

Opposite in a way in my house .. all girls. 20-32 x 3. All walk around in pants and a t shirt.. (Ukraine guest has followed suit .. but she's been here since May 22 so b much part of family )

Nice to be reminded of how un-perky I am 😂

ChampagneLassie · 05/10/2024 16:43

i feel the cold, I can’t imagine doing this. I wouldn’t be offended by family doing so but I just can’t imagine being comfortable on anything but warmest days.

tolerable · 05/10/2024 16:45

pants ?like actual pants?-mine=boxers....shorts wouldnt kill them then if keeps you happy.
both my ds auto strip tho nobody ever asked them too- once home(from anywhere) ...if leave bedroom is pjshorts/and a tshirt or dressing gown.
just start take photos n threaten tag on facebook??? i get my way(tidy room, clean bathroom))quite often with this threat-double funny cos i dont be on favebook.

JanefromLondon1 · 05/10/2024 16:48

I'dfind that a bit grim too OP. The least I'd expect is proper shorts/pj shorts or joggers.

It's like I live with 2 Martins from Friday night dinner with DH and DS but at least they wear something over their pants.

mitogoshigg · 05/10/2024 16:57

Not sure what's wrong with boxers and a t shirt? Anyway we tend to dress if the kids are around as they are young ladies and it's a blended family situation but if they aren't around (in theory both moved out) I happily wander around with nothing on myself though tend to wear clothes as I'm mean with the thermostat! In warmer months I often only have a short beach dress and pants on which i would not dream of going out in

ZiriForGood · 05/10/2024 17:02

What's the issue? Underwear is clothes and it is sad if they can't just be comfortable at home.

bittertwisted · 05/10/2024 17:03

Why is it grim?
Boys who you gave birth to and there is an issue with them being in pants?
Really couldn't care less, mother of 3 boys

Zebedee999 · 05/10/2024 17:12

I had a friend whose teenage son (16 ish) used to walk around naked whilst I was there. His mother thought it odd.... me even moreso! The son was non-plussed chatting whilst completely starkers.

Pat888 · 05/10/2024 17:13

You should join them - knickers and no bra - 😂😂👍

Hatty65 · 05/10/2024 17:16

Wouldn't happen here.

You're lucky if you can take your duffel coat off indoors. Teenage son tends to come down for breakfast in pjs, hooded dressing gown and draped in a furry throw.

No heating on yet.

NavyTiger · 05/10/2024 17:16

I dont see the issue i have 3 boys 15 16 21 and they all wander around in boxers its their home

user47 · 05/10/2024 17:17

I also wander round in my pants, we are all a disgrace, frankly. No bare bums on the sofa is a hard rule thou.

SonicTheHodgeheg · 05/10/2024 17:20

I agree with you. Topless is fine but I expect shorts rather than boxers.
