To ask what bedtime for a ten year old should look like?

Aibu to ask what bedtime for a ten year old should look like? What time? What kind of routine is ideal.

I ask because all sense of normality has gone out of the window, it would be helpful to hear from others.

intherainonatrain I promise it's 100% true. Yes she does comment that some of her friends have a later bedtime but we explain the benefits and why we do it the way we do.

We live overseas where the culture is to keep many of the kids (even very young ones) up to midnight as normal and you can see the detrimental effect on the kids. So we plough in our way.

As we go to bed early I don't benefit from LOADS of extra adult time but we get about an hour to connect as a couple which is invaluable.

Hard to believe in my younger days I thought nothing of heading out clubbing at 10 pm!! 🤪

To be fair mine don’t get up until 7.30am (in bed for 8.30, lights out at 9). If they were up at 6 they’d have to be in bed for 7-7.30 to get enough sleep.

Bedtime 8 pm here. Up at 6.45 am.
Later doesn't work. Just turned 11.
