Labour voters - do you regret voting for them?

They got off to a really bad start and it's just gone downhill ever since. Within a couple of weeks we practically had martial law, we've had riots you name it. Law and order has completely broken down. They've cut the pensioners fuel allowance and all the while they've had their snouts in the trough. 2 tier Keir approval rating has fallen off a cliff - the country has had enough already lol.

Aibu to think that those who voted them in should apologise.

That was a great KS conference speech, haters. He's not keen on you, either.

How very dare you. As for me.

@JandLandG Well, under Blair Labour sold UKs Gold reserves. That was definitely a bad decision.

I've never voted Labour in my life and never will.(I haven't voted Conservative either for that matter) This particular government is abysmal 2 tier Kier and his cronies Robber Reeves and Cupid stunt Ang. All they do is blame the previous government for everything. The prisons emptied to make room for rioters just to make an example of them. It's been on the news today that they're already re offending one's sexualy assaulted someone. He'll be throwing murderers out next to chuck people in who've made sausage jokes on social media. Cut the winter fuel allowance so someone who misses out on pension credit by 20p loses out on £300 .Free glasses and free dental care .How is that right ? There's more to come I fear. Crime is getting out of hand. Immigration is totally out of hand. Anyone who thinks they're doing a good job needs their head testing. I live in a predominantly Labour area ex mining village the sort of place a turnip with a red tie on could stand for Labour and it would get in. But now more people around here are changing their tune. I don't think they'll get a 2nd term . But by then the damage will be irreparable.

newnamethanks · 26/09/2024 18:09

O you love a joke up there don't you? The irreparable damage has already occurred over the last 14 years. Perhaps you haven't noticed? To excoriate Labour for failing to fix it in a matter of weeks is irrational, to say the least, so can only assume you jest.

...and the Tories have never taken any bad economic decisions?

Their "dash for growth" budget in 73 that lead to 25 per cent inflation?

Lawson's budget in 88 that led to huge inflation and massive mortgage rates?

Lamont's laughable bumbling and errors which led to us crashing out of the ERM in 92 during the Tories second huge recession of that period?

The massive interest rate hikes that were imposed to correct his errors.

And that's long before we get to Truss.

Not forgetting the billions spunked up the wall to their mates on PPE etc.

The Tories are good on the economy and finances you say?

You can't trust them. They fuck up all the time and funnily enough the only beneficiaries are their friends...

Do not ever vote Tory...

What an embarrassingly garbage post.

None of that you're saying stands up to any kind of scrutiny, I'm afraid.

They've had three months to try to turn around the mess made by 4 of the worst prime ministers in the history of this country.

Cupid stunt? That's fucking embarrassing.

Plenty that’s she’s written about the violent offenders being released is true.

I’m sure Labour started off saying no one in prison for violent crimes would be let out early; so we all went along with it. Then it turns out they are letting violent criminals out early. And we still have people defending this.

It’s pretty disgusting.

The releases were happening whoever came into power. It was that or not arresting new violent and sexual offenders at all.

KimberleyClark · 27/09/2024 12:09

In this article, dated 12th July aw perk after the election, it clearly states that sexual and violent offenders would NOT be included in this nor would domestic abuse perpetrators.

This has now been proven to have been a lie.

People are angry about this. Rightly so.

It says those serving 4 years or more for violent offences, not all violent offenders.
Look, nobody is happy about this, but it has had to happen due to terrible under investment. Would you prefer new offenders not go at all?

Edit: this new tendency to call anything that has changed ‘a lie’ is weird. Even if some more than 4 year sentence for violent offence prisoners have been released, it doesn’t make that statement a lie. It means things had to change due to circumstances. If I say I’m going to make chicken casserole then discover the meat in the freezer is actually pork so make pork casserole I’m not a liar. I’m a pragmatist.

It completely depends on what crimes the “new offenders” have committed. More or equally violent to the ones being released?

And to your edit:

It Is a lie when they try to sneak it past without any discussion.

It’s not ok when the tories do it. It shouldn’t be ok if the people you happen to vote for do it.

It’s either wrong or not.

It can’t depend on your political allegiance

And to your “metaphor” comparing rapists and violent offenders being released early and reoffending with cooking the wrong ready meal… disgusting.

You don’t really understand analogies, do you? Or my post really, which wasn’t comparing anything to violent offenders but was about the nature of lying.
Bad faith or lack of thought? I’m out either way.

You’re the type of person who would be losing their shit if the tories had done this. And rightly so!

Seemingly, because it was labour, the victims will just have to accept that “things change” like what’s for tea tonight, hey?

If a Tory government were doing this in the aftermath of 14 years of Labour neglect of the prison system with warning given 3 years ahead - I would feel exactly the same as I do now, when the positions are reversed. These events are on the previous government. They had time, they were warned, they did nothing. It's rank hypocrisy to blame a new government that hasn't had 3 months in power.

Labour has made quite a few errors, but they are nowhere near the last government's level of utter shitshow.

Well, time will tell. I suppose.

Although, I have a feeling that even if we have 14 years of this and worse from labour, you’d still be blaming the Tories.

We’re doomed precisely because of these tribal politics.

nearlylovemyusername · 27/09/2024 12:57

Well, they've made an impressive list given it's not even three months yet.

And they haven't run the country through Covid and war in Ukraine with all its consequences.

Bring your popcorn.

You would be wrong. In 2010 I was completely fed up with Labour and was fully prepared to give the Tories a chance. That lasted until the Lansley reforms of the NHS, which were predictably a disaster. When you accuse people who want to give a new government more than 3 months of being tribal, you are projecting.

True, the list is impressive. Strikes ended, abortion clinic buffer zones brought in, WFA means tested (yes, I see this as a positive), Rwanda scheme ditched, constructive dialogue with the EU, restoration of workers' rights. All good stuff. Let's see what the budget brings.
