Labour voters - do you regret voting for them?

They got off to a really bad start and it's just gone downhill ever since. Within a couple of weeks we practically had martial law, we've had riots you name it. Law and order has completely broken down. They've cut the pensioners fuel allowance and all the while they've had their snouts in the trough. 2 tier Keir approval rating has fallen off a cliff - the country has had enough already lol.

Aibu to think that those who voted them in should apologise.

This is the funniest post I've read on here in some time. I really hope it's satire.

Beezknees · 23/09/2024 18:52

Tory HQ back again with another of these posts.

SeptemberSunglasses · 23/09/2024 18:54

I don't see how they can be blamed for the riots at all really.

I am surprised that the supposed left wing party scrapped winter fuel allowance, it's not very in keeping with what labour should be about at all and not the sort of thing people expected by voting for them.

YABU to say that people should apologise for voting for a change.

And? So? Popularity stats are a nonsense and a distraction from serious politics. Labour haven't got off to a great start, but they have done some good stuff already - ditched the Rwanda plan, sorted out the junior Drs strikes, implemented the buffer zone legislation for abortion clinics, started rebuilding political relationships with the EU. They need time to find their feet and learn from their mistakes. But compared to the previous government, they're golden. (I realise this is a bar that so low an ant could limbo under it, but still).

What an original thread.

You can get back under your rock for the next 4 years and wait for the next election like we had to do for 14 fucking years.

So what? He’s never been or will be personally particularly popular. That isn’t what’s important.

ObieJoyful · 23/09/2024 19:03

I don’t regret it because our Labour MP is awesome.

Marmiteontoastgirlie · 23/09/2024 19:13

I don’t regret it. I agree with winter fuel payments being limited to those that need it - seems very sensible.

I think the media are giving them a hard time, and some of the headlines I’ve seen have raised my eyebrows about what’s being focused on.

I couldn’t give a toss if they had a sponsored wardrobe or stayed in an apartment on holiday - would like the bbc to focus on actual issues of the country (I equally didn’t really care about party gate so I’m not just being biased).

Would rather bbc did an expose on the inefficiencies of stamp duty etc rather than go for these click bait topics that do nothing to further public policy or move the dial on country’s real issues.

I wish I had a Labour MP, but my lot voted in Nick Fucking Timothy.

LittleBitAlexisLaLaLaLaLa · 23/09/2024 19:33

I voted Labour. I’m not bloody apologising 🙄Mainly because the alternative was another 5 years of the Tories. No fucking thank you. We’ve had 3 months of Labour in charge after 14 years of an utter shit show.

There’s a huge ongoing mess to clean up and Starmer and the rest have got straight to work trying to sort it out. Not saying it’s all gone great but I don’t envy them. The optics of making the winter fuel allowance means tested and the way it’s being done aren’t fantastic although I do agree it should be means tested. What gets me is that the Tories came for the sick and disabled and children living in poverty for over a fucking decade and barely anyone seemed to give a shit. The second that the winter fuel allowance becomes means tested and not given to all pensioners everyone appears to lose their shit.

My mum will still get it FWIW because she is a pensioner on benefits. My in-laws won’t but they definitely don’t need it and readily admit this.

No, I don't regret it at all. I agree with most of their plans. I also don't really judge the pms wife over clothing gifts either. Ffs the woman is an NHS occupational therapist. We all know full fucking well the media would have destroyed her if she'd actually been on telly, state visits etc in gear from next & m&s, which is what she'd afford working in the NHS.

"In the trough" my arse

I really hope the OP is a bot because otherwise this is just sad. And we should all expect another thread about this from them in exactly 4 weeks. And again. And again.

Exactly this. Enough already!

I kept reading about the clothing gifts and struggled to work out the reason I should give a shit. Especially when you compare that to the £40m worth of helicopter rides Sunak had the taxpayer stump up the cost for.

TheMauveTiger · 23/09/2024 19:53

No.

Gall10 · 23/09/2024 20:42

This ‘intergenerational foundation’ seems very ageist….produced a report “hoarding of housing” and another on ‘bedroom blockers’
I suspect their research claiming all us oldies are virtually millionaires is heavily skewed in their favour!

Leniriefenstahl · 23/09/2024 20:53

Some cracking past threads you started @MeadowL Bit of a disingenuous one considering you’re a reform voter Farage lover.
Oh and the one about your famous hubby, fantastic 😂 not Nige himself is it ?

It would definitely be skewed if that’s what they were claiming. It isn’t.

My MIL and her siblings are are extremely financially comfortable with savings, occupational pensions etc. They are loosing their shit over the winter fuel allowances.
I remember my MIL saying a few years ago that she didn't agree with the welfare state...Hmm

Eh? She's married to a man who's worth 10 million so I'm sure he could have treated her to a few dresses. And thought she was keeping a low profile (which we were told when Labour got in) but now she seems to be everywhere. But I agree that this is a side issue and it is much more important how incompetent Labour are in other ways. I think they'll make our lives worse but then I'm a traditional conservative (albeit I would never support the rotten shower we've just got rid of) so I don't agree with most of their policies anyway.
