To think kitten heels are now acceptable?

So I used to wear the high heels and now I live in trainers and boots.

But I see kitten heels a lot now and some lovely ones in Zara.

OP ignore the superior types.

I am in my fifties and love style and fashion. Kitten heels have come in and out. I wore them in the eighties.

I am aware they have come back in fashion now. Go for it!

But for me unfortunately, they will be forever Theresa May ;-)

Thudercatsrule · 21/09/2024 14:53

Acceptable for what? Who has to accept them? Weird.

MintyNew · 21/09/2024 14:54

Where would you wear them though? Everyday walking and life, just very impractical. Are you talking about a special occasion?

jasminocereusbritannicus · 21/09/2024 15:02

I had no idea that they were ”unacceptable “.
I can’t wear high heels, so I tend to wear kitten heels if I want smart shoes. Otherwise, I wear trainers because of my knees. I can’t wear very flat shoes either.

The OP perpetuates the worst of an ageist ablest sexist society where people are made to feel bad about their choices from a narrower pool of options.

I wear kitten heels whenever I wear a skirt or dress. I wish I could wear higher heels because I think they look better, but I can't since I slipped a disc. I can't think of any flat shoes that would look better with a skirt/dress than some sort of heel. I usually wear kitten heel ankle boots with jeans or trousers in colder months.

You know it’s not just me saying this?

I didn’t wake up yesterday and say jeans are forever out of style and what I say goes.

This js from what I’ve seen and read.

What have you seen and read? Google’s AI overview points out that kitten heels have been popular at various points in history and lists several examples (50s, 60s, 90s, early 00s among others). Why so snippy?

VestaTilley · 21/09/2024 15:56

Why do you care what other people think? Just buy the type of clothes you want to wear.

Really? It's Audrey Hepburn for me, especially in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Theresa May, particularly before she became PM was actually a very stylish dresser so that's not the "gotcha" you might think it is.

um… it wasn’t supposed to be a “ gotcha”🙄and I’m sure she is fairly stylish for a politician. We might not all want to look like her, that’s all!
Why are some people so fighty now? We’re discussing shoes fgs! 😁

InSearchOfMartin · 21/09/2024 16:25

I never stopped wearing them. I've got some I bought in 2000 and still wear them.

ludocris · 21/09/2024 19:41

@IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle my most sincere apologies. It was "facetious" and "talking rubbish" rather than obtuse.

PullUpTheDrawbridge · 21/09/2024 19:53

No. It's flippers or nothing, I don't care how difficult they are to walk in.

Seriously. Whose world are you living in? No one else gets has a say on the things you choose to wear on YOUR feet.

Love how all the posters are giving the faux confusion trying to ask what the poster means by acceptable, knowing fine well that for about 25 years absolutely no one except your granny was wearing a kitten heel 🤣

You all KNOW what the OP means, why is everyone being a dick about it?

It's the judgy fashion police who are dicks.

It's bloody tragic that anyone feels dropping a few centimetres of heel on their own footwear is something that needs approval from an imaginary authority that purposely moves the goal posts every season and makes women feel shit because they can't keep up (or walk in) just to make money.

But yeah. Other women should definitely just stop being so fastidious. Hmm
